Down to earth for me...

Saw a new Focus. Looked really nice.

The one I saw was a gunmetal grey and looked really nice, better than the PR shot above. Best looking Focus since the Mk1 IMHO.

From that angle I'm hard pressed to tell it apart from the latest Fiesta - if you  removed the rear lettering and promo numberplate of course!

I don't mind it, but as a former Focus Mk1 owner I find the Ford range a bit 'meh' at the moment.

Think I'd still be tempted to pick a 2 year old Fiesta ST....

Now there are Life Style vehicles to aspire to and that are affordable and not Double Cab Pickups, Sports Utility Vehicles / AWD / 4X4 look a likes, Big Busses for carrying loads of people when you have no mates or family.

New Focus ST rumoured to have RS 2.3 Ecoboost engine detuned to about 286bhp and £29,000 for those who think the RS is a bit too boy racer.

Bet that guy that bought the Focus RS wish he had kept the Fiesta ST even though it was 4 years old and done 60,000 miles. 16 visits to the Ford Garage for a £35,000 car in 18 months and 19,500 miles with one engine failure at 8,500 miles and 40bhp down at 18,500 miles. Although it performed well at Goodwood circuit 6.7mpg and full tank used in 4 sessions of 15 minutes make it very expensive to run. Not what you expect in a family car when costs are still important. Shocking build quality from Ford they had head gasket issues with Escort Cosworth's 25 years ago.:notme:

Hope they gave it more than the donor car's 296bhp, as my Octavia has 336bhp from it's 2.0litre engine.

My ultimate 'I want one' VW.

A Get out of my way car, and i need that Disabled Bay or 2 Bays car.

Maybe i could park trailers better with one of these but i doubt it, buy the time i could afford to buy one the Tech might be gubbed.

AT 1,565KG it's turning into a bit of a PORKER. More GT cruiser than sportscar. Suppose the 3.0litre turbo engine will gain a bit more power to offset the extra 55kg from the bigger crash structure, WLTP extra parts and heavier 8 speed auto gearbox. Soon be as heavy as a Nissan GT-R but with a lot less power.:D

If I'm honest it sounds much better than it looks

Agree old 3.5litre V10 and 2.4litre V8 F1 sounded much nicer than these modern 1.6litre V6 Turbo cars even though the latest cars may be quicker round most circuits. The best cars must look as good as they sound.:o
