Fixed vs. Variable

Featured Replies

Which documents? Every service book will show as it came from the factory i.e. Q16??

Please back up with evidence...maybe we should hold a poll  :dull:

DonjSZ5,

I'm merely repeating what has been quoted on here numerous times over the years since variable or flexible servicing was introduced.

Go ahead have a poll but make sure you are asking people what the original factory printed sticker actually shows inside the service book and not what their car is actually on (as I stated that is down to what the dealer did at PDI or later on in the cars history).

Andyvee also told you, "They all leave the factory as flexible, hence the code in the service book. Some dealers switch them to fixed at PDI, some don't. "  You didn't demand evidence from him or tell him he either worked for Skoda or was telepathic???

I'm on this forum to learn more about my car and occasionally when I believe I can help to offer an opinion. It's up to you the value you place on my opinion...

My only concern about doing oil changes mid cycle of a variable regime is that you will be confusing the system as to when the next service is due.

I have been lead to believe that the time and distance calculations are based on a number of parameters relating to the oil filter and viscosity of the oil etc, changing 1 component may affect this.

Please back up with evidence...maybe we should hold a poll  :dull:

Perhaps a better poll would be all the people who do not have Q16 in their build code, I think you will find the result rather empty of participants.

Please re-read my post about the poll  :dull:

Ok - I have re-read your post and I still don't quite get what you are trying to get as a result.

Are you really suggesting that we run a poll of everyone's build codes?

If this is the case then (as many have tried to tell you) the result will be 100% Q16, as this is what gets shipped from the factory.

Is it the case that you are not prepared to accept what a number of people on here are saying is the truth?

many....number...one person.

Can we have a Poll on New Skodas Imported to the UK and with a 3 Year Manufacturers Warranty,

and were any delivered to other none UK but European Countries with more than the only 2 years of Warranty.

Just to see how many none UK Vehicles got 3 Years Warranty as Standard from Skoda.

many....number...one person.

Are you just here to wind people up?

Are you just here to wind people up?

No, like all other 'members' I am here to ask a simple question that hopefully will get more than one answer.

I am assuming you mean 1 right answer and some wrong answers...

You two boys seem to be winding each other up

Anyway,

Cars / Engines after a certain build date are Suitable for Variable / Flexible Servicing,

Some before were not.

The Same engine might have been used in another Volkswagen Group Vehicle and been on Variable for 2 years before it is changed from

Fixed to Variable in a Skoda.

The Skoda Model being Launched 2 years after a VW say, but they wait 2 years after launch of the Skoda before the Code Changes.

EG,

Mk 5 Polo, Mk2 Fabia Face Lift.  & Others.

Vorsprung Durch Technik.

Have the same engines and components, but have magazines doing Road Tests and Reviews and show Annual Costs lower on the VW

because of a different Servicing Regime.

Just happened again with the Mk5 2014 Face Lift Polo & the All New 3rd generation Skoda Fabia.

Same Service Intervals and Fuel Consumption and somehow Motoring Journalist work out the VW has lower annual Servicing expense.

(Maybe because the Launch Pack for Journalists / Media says it does.)

Some switch them even when being specifically asked that the car be on variable and when asked to change it back, state that it can only be done when the service light comes on. Grrrrr

Steve

Which we all know is *******s.

Why is this Skoda servicing so complicated!

Maybe we should have a poll...what is your Q number.

Why?

All (UK) Octavias are QI6 in the service book and on the vehicle data sticker as that is the standard for the UK market?

so that's 4 QI6 at the moment. The poll is going well.

Wrong. Q16 doesn't even exist, I think you will find it is QI6, and you also don't know how many O3's I have had :)
