  • Put the wet weather kit on and went and did my Advanced Test.... and passed

  • You're right, I've just undone one and the lip on the pipe extrudes out of the block so it's pressing against that.

  • Finished! That's 2016 done.

Usually quite methodical but yesterday was an off day. At least I hope it was as I need to replace a security light, what could possibly go wrong :(

Red to red, black to black and blue to bits!

Of yes it's 4 core wire too so the PIR trigger the other lights too. I've never considered my colour blindness a disability until now, oh well I'll get the wife to switch the use back on.

Stand well back.

Itll be fine.

Ah right okay then. Fair play. You're best waiting then eh. Sods law says that if you picked it up with no alarm something would happen :(.

Fingers crossed for you mate!

Cheers

Finally got a chance to wash 1,877.9 miles of dead flies, road crud and the effects of about 30-minutes worth of rain off of the Harley after the trip to European Bike Week in Faaker See, Austria.

Not too bad really considering the amount of crap I had to clean off my visor every time we stopped for fuel, food, the loo and un-numbing my backside :D

Nice one mate! Looks better after a clean.. although theres only chrome to polish with paint like that eh!

Did you trade the Harley in for the Sprint then?

No mate the Sprint will be in addition to the Harley, my love is the Harley and the whole scene that surrounds it however I know that taking my recent trip as an example the Sprint would have been faster and more comfortable. In addition as well as belonging to HOG and the Chelsea & Fulham HOG Chapter I also belong to a local club that arrange trips away (most recently Northern Spain and the Picos de Europa) and I'd be the only person on a Harley and whilst it goes well its not really the tool for that sort of trip especially securing luggage to it, far better to have nice panniers and a top box ;)

The Matt finish does look very good against the chrome, however you are very limited to what you can use to clean it, mainly only products from H-D in order to protect the Denim (Matt) Paint Finish and you sign to say that you understand how to clean and care for it!

This model was a limited edition for 2016 and only came in the Denim Black Paint Finish so there wasn't any choice really.

£44 for the replacement sensor, I suppose it could have been worse but at least it will be fixed again for more lightning quick shifts which make me look better than I am :)

As a fitter I once knew said "I don't get paid to hit it with a hammer I get paid to know where to hit it!"  Or was he a plumber I am not sure now? :notme:

Certainly not an engineer as we know WHY you hit it......

Make it work. You cant take a quickshifter off or you lose 100 'cool points' :D.

150 cool points added as sensor replaced and the module has been moved to a better location. New firmware update installed and can adjust settings that were greyed out previously including cutoff time and sensitivity. I need to take it for a spin to ensure everything us correct but readings look good :)

Woo. Soon turned that around then.

Nice one. Bet you're well chuffed with it (:

Shot an email off to BDS, the U.K. distributor, asking if a replacement part was available, got a response before 9am Monday morning so ordered the new sensor and it arrived today.

Yeah, I am a bit relieved as I do like having it. I also never had the fitting instructions before and found out that the sensor is position sensitive. It was previously set at the 12 o'clock position but the instruction state 9 o'clock and it will allow down as well as up clutchless changes. I guess when I take it for a ride ill find out.

Sounds clever stuff. Good service too. Cant ask for better than that eh.

I dont think you'd be happy if you had to get rid of the QS. A proper backwards step!

A little nervous for the first time you push that lever down? Unsure whether its going to crunch in pain or go in :D.

Picked it up! Managed to do the 52 miles home on pretty much dry roads and between showers! Was very lucky!

Especially since i went to adjust the mirror before i set off and it spun right round.. obviously i got them to tighten it up and had a word about 'are you sure this is been PDI'd, because i'll be going on the motorway in 5 minutes and if something comes loose....' but i was assured it had been and everything else seemed fine!

Extra's.. LED indicators and Heated grips :)

It does look good, you just need to get through the boring breaking in period now. Is it luggage next?
