  • Put the wet weather kit on and went and did my Advanced Test.... and passed

  • You're right, I've just undone one and the lip on the pipe extrudes out of the block so it's pressing against that.

  • Finished! That's 2016 done.

Ordered a bike! Woop.

The MT09?

Rode home from Luxembourg :)

I know I know. If I can get away with keeping her I will. I've got a few little bits I'd like to do but only when I'm 100% sure it's staying.

I'm going to smash out some more overtime, the mrs has just got promo so hopefully we'll save enough by spring that I can keep. Lucky the scooter is costing me pennies in fuel :D

Keeping her? The mrs or the bike? :D :D

The MT09?

Tracer, Yes mate. Its being built out of the crate as we speak i guess!

Lava red, heated grips and LED indicators.

Everything is LED standard, headlights, tail lights etc, then they stuck bulbs on for indicators. Cant be having that :D.

Nice one, I can't understand why they do things like that why use bulbs for indicators when everything else is LED.

So when are you picking it up?

I know its just wrong isnt it. Might aswel do it all if you're doing it at all :D. Love the LED headlights on it though tbh. Ive always had a thing for funky headlights hahaa.

Next thursday mate. Which happens to be my birthday by pure chance. So happy birthday to me :D.

This is getting spooky, the Triumph Sprint I've ordered is red and I'm picking that up on my Birthday to, so a very happy birthday to both of us :D

No flash LED headlight though lol

Haa mega! What dates that then?

Maybe we should all just buy ourselves birthday presents. Seems a good plan to me! :D.

Sprints are a lovely bike though. You'll be well happy with that engine im sure (:

Mine's Saturday the 24th ;)

At least if you buy yourself something you know that it will fit lol

Yes, funnily enough I've spoken to a few Sprint ST and GT owners whilst on my travels and the only common complaints are poor steering lock and crap headlights (both projector and reflector variants) all of them raved about the engine though :)

Woo. Not long either then! Mine was going to be the 24th but i thought stuff it, ill have my birthday off work n do that instead :D.

How often do you actually ride in the dark though? You could upgrade the bulbs to 'osram nightbreakers' or whatever and that should improve it abit, but its not really a deal breaker is it? Not for me anyway.

The engine is great. So smooth (:

I know what you are saying, it would just be nice though if they fitted a 150mph headlight to a bike capable of doing that speed lol, don't get me wrong car manufacturers have only in the last few years tackled this issue so hopefully bikes manufacturers will follow.

As you say its not a deal breaker and it wouldn't be the first time that I've put upgraded bulbs (light output not wattage) in a bike or a car for that matter lol

Ive never done 150mph in the dark and been happy with the headlights tbf. Even the xenons on a GTR had me ****tin myself at that speed :D :D.

I know what youre sayin though! The brighter the headlights the more the signs reflect back too which can be awkward and dazzling mind.

Im sure theyre fine at 80mph ;) hahaaa. Feels like 150 whwn you cant see **** all :D. You'll love it mate.

I bet the headlights arent as bad as you're expecting (:

Went for a little spin, soon remembered that I needed to adjust the gear lever angle so went back home to get the tools out. Raised the gear lever to a suitable position, attach the quick shift sensor. Break the quick shift sensor. No chance of fixing so set about removing it with no instructions, not my best idea. Seemed straight forward until the small wire went into a much larger wiring look. Thinking I'd got most of it out I tried to start the bike to find all sorts of errors on the bike computer and no ignition. Cup of tea time

Had a think about how the quick shifter worked and remembered it cuts the ignition between changes. Traced the wires back and they plug into the coil packs. Rear would be easy to remove but front requires a lot of work, removing fairings and fuel tank. The later is nearly full and no way do I fancy removing that just to get to some wires.

Plan B. Jam the sensor, a very tiny and sensitive tilt switch, into an open position. Easier said than done but lots of swearing later and it's done. Bike starts up and quick blast over to my brothers only to find I'd put the gear lever back in the exact same position it was already in, 4 hours before I went into destroy mode. 15 mins with my brothers horrible tool kit and gear lever finally in the right place.

My brothers injuries from getting knocked off his bike are getting better but his broken ribs are still sore and being on his back he can't get comfy either but it's all in the hands of the insurance companies now. He has been provided with a Honda NC700 as a courtisey bike until his is repaired Nice commuting bike but he still wants his Deuville back.

Your spannering abilities sound about as good as mine.  Do one small job and create four!

Pleased to hear Bro is on the mend though.  I would hate to even think how much pain broken ribs are as I have pulled a muscle in that region a couple of times and the pain is unbearable every time you breath which of course not doing isn't an option!

Oh dear. That could of gone better mate! Nevermind, everything is fixable eh! (:

NC700's are supposed to be good. Someone was telling me yesterday that their mate got nearly 90mpg out of theres on a ride out. Exciting i thought :D. Good commuter though. Is it much use to your brother with broken ribs?

My pick up may be delayed due to supply problems with the Triumph badged Datatool Alarm, keeping my fingers firmly crossed.

Oh no :(.

Tell em to let you have the bike and they can fit the alarm at a later date.

If you still want the over sensitive things. Theyre Like marmite haha.

He's an hospital porter so currently off work as he cant push the trolleys around. He had whinged to the insurance company about the courtesy bike, went to get some shopping on it when arrived. He has since gone back to getting taxis so the bike will probably end just sat in the garage.

Ive enquirers about a new sensor so will see then as to fixing or removing. I'm fitting a stage tuning kit over the winter which is a tank off job and if the quick shift needs removing I'll get it done then.

Make it work. You cant take a quickshifter off or you lose 100 'cool points' :D.

It's maddening I know but I can't really do that as living in Beirut (well you'd think it was Beirut the way insurers load your bike and car premiums for living in East London) insurers insist on having the alarm fitted so I'll wait.

I've had the Triumph alarm previously on a Speed 4 and a Street Triple and can't say that I experience any issues with them so fingers crossed for the one that will be fitted to the Sprint!

Ah right okay then. Fair play. You're best waiting then eh. Sods law says that if you picked it up with no alarm something would happen :(.

Fingers crossed for you mate!

Supply problems means the guy that fits alarms is on holiday :)

Same here on spanners. anything beyond simple usually ends in disaster for me too.

I broke a rib last year slipping on some crap the wife left on the stairs so your brother has my sympathy.
