  • Put the wet weather kit on and went and did my Advanced Test.... and passed

  • You're right, I've just undone one and the lip on the pipe extrudes out of the block so it's pressing against that.

  • Finished! That's 2016 done.

Woke up a bit sore this morning but another day of bacon baps, tea and ice cream sorted that out.

As far as I can remember, we did Chapel en Le Frith (that's in France, right?) Buxton, Bakewell, Grindleford, Chatsworth, Hathersage, a few more interesting roads, then the opposite way over the Snake. Little traffic going our way so we, erm, got a wriggle on ;)

Off home tomorrow, so I'll have a troll over the Cat and Fiddle.

Apparently the pub is shut?

No idea where from there, but probably A523 and A515 south then follow my nose.

Nice one. Plenty of bikes out today around here!

Enjoyed thetrip out then?

Yes the Cat and Fiddle pub is shut with a barrier over the carpark. So thats a no go.

Just keep to the main road and dont go over the shortcuts it you want to get a feel of it. The average speed cameras end quite a way before the road finishes too.

Go steady though, it seems to catch plenty out. Keep an eye on the dry stone walls, theres quite a few car shaped holes in them :D.

I went over today and a 4x4 had gone through and rolled down the hill. I dno how they manage it tbh.

Good to see you're ok after your minor spill. If it's any consolation we've all done that at some stage. I dropped the GS the first time I took SWMBO on the back :peek:

I was up there last week with a group of Tr***ph riders and did some of the roads you mention though the weather wasn't so good to us. As you can imagine I got an awful lot of good natured stick but it was a real good laugh and we all got on well.

That 4x4 was there last week Ollie when we went past. It's not a road to take for granted is it?

Sorry to hear of the minor mishap but glad to hear you're ok and the bike is relatively ok.

Its a gutting feeling when it happens.

It does seem to catch plenty out and ive never understood it. Ive been going across a few times when theres been massive tail backs and an air ambulance arriving and the lot.

A few weeks ago i drove past a guy to get his Fiesta back onto the road and off the fence he'd plowed into on one of the tighter bends.

I guess i just dont get it because i know the road so well. I knew all the corners before i could even drive, id been passengered over there so much as a kid :D

Two great days around Welsh coast roads

Just got back after two days and over 500 miles of riding around Wales, mainly on the coasts roads of the south west and from St. Davids up th west through to Aberystwyth on to Machynlleth (overnight in Llanbrynmair). Next day back to Machynlleth on to Aberdovfri to just south of Anglesey, then down and over the mountains to Bala then over some more mountains (the military Brecon Beacons) through Builth Wells for a cup of tea at Abergavenny. Then home via Monmouth and Chepstow.

Great weather and ride.

With last Saturday's ride and the above I have now used 25% of my insurance mileage up!

I think it's still there?

Went past a white metal pile of scrap yesterday, upside down in a field.

As a road it's OK but too many LGVs. Still enjoyed it though. Managed to get all the way back home without using motorways. A very relaxing ride

might be the same one, sounds like it. The recovery man was taking a look when i went past. I did wonder how he would get it out without getting crashed into himself. Maybe thats why he left it there, maybe he thought better of it.

It's a very over rated road i think.

If i go on the bike, i go on the short cuts as theres no cameras and i can do what i like. Theres a particular straight hill on the shortcut which is good to power up and power past everything.

If i go the long way around im constantly looking at the speedo and 50mph is far too slow.

Well, I've managed to sort out a couple of screen shots of where we went.

They both start just north of Glossop and kind of go in a clockwise direction.

And so back to reality.

Nothing too exciting, met a couple of friends for Lunch at the Norton Heath Cafe near Ongar, Essex, took the A128 back past "The Secret Nuclear Bunker" en-route to Lakeside H-D for free hot drinks and order a couple of bits required for next months trip to European Bike Week in Faaker See, Austria.

Harley rallies are something my dad did religiously until a few years ago.

He didnt turn up on a harley mind. Usually a BMW. r1100rs, 1150gs etc etc.

Got medals on the side for being the furthest travelers.

Really it was harder work for someone on a harley coming from down the road

Flattery will get you nowhere  :D
