What did you do to your bike today?

Cruise on the BM is just like a car and easy to use Ollie.

Apparently the 2016 Tiger Sport is a big improvement over the older version so make sure you test ride the older one before you buy just in case.....we will of course require a full test ride report :D

  • Put the wet weather kit on and went and did my Advanced Test.... and passed

  • You're right, I've just undone one and the lip on the pipe extrudes out of the block so it's pressing against that.

  • Finished! That's 2016 done.

I am tempted to test ride a GS tbh.

I'd take that as a challenge Ollie  :D

Fly by wire throttle on the KTM is no different in feel to any other cabled bike I've ridden.

OMG.....If you do take one out try to get it for at least 1/2 a day as they take a bit of getting used to, especially the tele lever front end...Chris would no doubt say you'll never get used to one, or if you do you should be locked up. There's a big difference too between the twin cam pre 2013 and current LC model. There's also the KTMs but I don't know which one is the best of their range but the seat height is well.....high, so no good for a shortie like me.

I cannot say as I have noticed anything with the TEX either.  I think the main thing is somehow see if you can get a ride on the older model (difficult) and see which you prefer.  To me once you have the bike any difference to anything else will be forgotten in a few miles unless it is a boxer twin! :p

I meant to ask.  When you were out on your test ride didn't you find it strange riding straight past filling stations? :notme:

Itd have go be the twin cam i think. Telelever fromt end ive heard is very odd yeah!

Also. Ive always liked the look of the R1200RS, but theyre abit new and still very expensive.

Theres a 15 plate older model in Clay Cross CMC for £8k. Wonder if i could test ride that one...

Ahaha. You're not joking either. I put £7 in the test bike and the range to empty shot up to 110 miles and it was only on half a tank. I was left thinkin, wtf, how am i gonna use all this! :D :D :D

Just caught up with this. Chris we are disowning Oli. Thinking about a boxer ?!!!! Wtf.

Is there any therapy for this or is it incurable ?

Seriously worried we've lost him already.

Oli, have you gone mental ?

I've never ridden one :D :D :D

Had a new rear tyre put on the Harley after finding a phillips screw in it when I washed it the other day :(

But very, very good.

The RS hadn't been launched when I bought my R1200R Sport or I may well have had one of those instead.

Well my bike failed its first mot on Wednesday as the throttle was sticking open on the last few inches of full right lock. Tried getting every mm wherever I could and it was solved or so I thought. This is because I have extra height risers (for the last ten years!).

Then while I had put the original risers back on for the mot and was now re fitting my higher ones, light bulb moment I rembered that I had altered the angle of the right grip.

Now it does not rev on right lock, yippee. Now need to solve the grip angle which may mean taking the pull/push cables out sending them away for ones two inches longer!

Better to find under test than turning into a corner. At least your all sorted now.

The force is strong in you Luke. Give in to the darkside......

Filled up the Beemer ready for the Brackley Festival Of Motorcycling tomorrow, a fantastic day out.

Rode it 170 miles from home to the Peak District.

Tomorrow, I will mostly be riding some great roads with my pal and guide Keith.

Interspersed with bacon butties and tea. :)

Just over the hill then.

Snake pass is on the door step.. then you can head off anywhere in the Peaks from the other end.

Holme Moss is a nice road, nice n steep and good to power up. Then Last of the Summer Wine was filmed just over the hill :)

I had a fabulous day riding round the Peak District Yesterday.

I reckon we did about 80 odd miles? On some lovely roads.

The views are stunning.

Anyway, back to the point of the post...

We pulled into the carpark of my BnB, having to turn right.

As I turned in, I must have caught the right htand edge of a shallow pothole.

The bike tipped sideways to the left and the front wheel turned right.

The result was a loud crashing sound, my left side and head hitting the deck with a thud, my left foot trapped under the engine followed by a very naughty word or two!

This was swiftly followed by a black puddle under the engine!

More very naughty words as I thought the crank case had cracked spilling oil.

Luckily it was just petrol.

My mate managed to lift the bike enough so I could get out and we got it stood up to assess the damage.

I was expecting a scraped side panel but not a mark on any of them.

The only damage was a bent and scuffed bar end, tiny scuffs on the mirror, left indicator and the built in crashbung under the left foot peg

What I can't understand, is how the footbrake got bent?

It's on the right hand side.

I'm OK though, bruised left knee, cut on right leg (might explain the footbrake) and I reckon my helmet is buggered.

Nothing gammon, egg, chips and cold pint didn't sort out.

Same again today, but without the end bit.:)

Main thing is you are not seriously hurt.  Pride is another matter.  All I would say is learn from it and replace your helmet as a must.
