Insurance on Skodas

Make sure she does most of the driving too ... insurance companies get funny if the named drivers are driving more than the policy holder :(

Chris

I agree... being a named driver is stupid... you deserve to get caught..

theres a word for that.. FRAUD!

Well then.....I guess im a fraud and stupid! :) Imo, stupid would be to drive around uninsured.

I realise there could be some issues if I was to ever make a claim but im not a stupid/reckless driver, I dont think im a high risk in terms of being involved in a crash. My parents wouldnt allow me to be on their policy if they thought otherwise. Hopefully I wont be involved in an accident whilst on this poilcy, then in the near future i'll get a few quotes for my own policy.

Fronting is a form of insurance fraud but the worst that will happen is the insurer will terminate your policy and refuse to pay out. They might also add a fraudulent/suspect status to your policy details and share this (legitimately) with other insurers, but this can only be done with evidence to back up their decision. I doubt they'd even go this far though. Prosecutions are extremely rare, with limited resources/budgets they're far more interested in those staging accidents and taking part in fraud rings. I'm not condoning it but I wouldn't lose any sleep over it.

What's more disturbing is that you think you're not likely to be in an accident because you're not a stupid/reckless driver! The world is full of retards, you could be the safest driver in the world but that doesn't matter one bit whilst the roads are full of muppets who have mirrors and indicators but not the intelligence or will to use them.

I've been quite pleasently surprised with the insurance for the vRS. This year it has cost me

Well technically you are driving around without valid insurance ;) And as a 20 year old, I would say you were a very high risk in terms of being involved in an accident, hence why your insurance company would charge you more if you had your own policy!

Chris

its also wasted time..time that could be building up your own no claims bonus

(I pay around 400 notes for my 'tavia vRS..but then I'm a sensible mid 30's kind of guy with full no claims and no points)

I did "fronting" for 6 months bak in '97. I realised I was being stupid so I forked out the extra readies.

It may be silly and wrong but in some cases it's the only way you can afford the insurance.

I did the same when I was 17 as to insure the metro (worth

i just called diect line about putting alloys on my fabia, they said not untill im 25, which is only three months away. so i mentioned that i had a vrs for a year and that it had alloys on it, i said as a sports version of the standard car it came with alloys so was i insured for that year....NO :thumbdwn: ...even though its a sports version i should have said this to them, ok like its got a rear spoiler, slightly lowered suspension, a sports tailpipe, different bumpers bla bla bla.

shouldnt they have know all this when they typed in VRS into the bloody computer, damn stupid insurance company, its a good job i never had an accident

not to mention the dangly air freshener :)

Direct Line

The company that charged me 20% extra for Factory fitted alloy wheels on an H Reg Rover 216 Gsi

The company who wouldn't let me carry over my NCD onto a second car - even though I am sole driver on both.

The company - despite me being 37 and having driven for 20 years who wouldn't insure my MG ZS 110 as I didn't have an NCD (I did have it on my Octy) UNLESS - I transfered my NCD to the MG and started a NEW driver policy on the octy (costing over

Brand new fabia vrs

im 22 driving a skoda octavia estate 1.9tdi elegance 110nhp on a 51 plate and paying just under

Chris[/quote'] - I know insurance companies class 20 year old drivers as high risk and therefore charge more. But they are labeling every single 20 year old as this and its not always the case.

I meant that imo I dont drive like an idiot- so hopefully (im not saying it could never happen) I wont have to claim on this insurance policy. As someone else said, there are idiot drivers out there who might be involved in an accident with me which would mean contacting the insurance company. But it would be quite difficult for them to prove that I drive the car the most.

 Cant wait to get my own policy.

Cheers,

Fraudster
