Skoda Hit and Run in Mansfield - Nottingham Police

Featured Replies

Anyone recognise this car maybe previous owner etc.

Some poor bloke got flattened outside a pub I was in on Saturday.

That looks like the driver did it on purpose

Big discussion on this on Facebook, a lot are saying it was done on purpose which in the footage clearly shows it was, possibly had a row in the pub before hand?

If it wasn't on purpose they were clearly drunk to get that far up the kerb. To then drive off is inexcusable.

Looks like a Black Mk1 VRS with Silver Zeniths. Shouldn't be too many of them left.

I Meant spiders not sure why I wrote zeniths

It amazes that so called professional CCTV is such appalling quality. My dashcam in the dark is much better than that.

Someone commented on the police website that they can pick up your number plate on anpr to send to you a fine but for a serious offence like this the cctv is terrible.

ANPR camera tend to mounted much more close to road level and are focusing on one thing.... the number plate, they aren't full PTZ units.

Councils run town CCTV... and as we know they are running on an ever shrinking budget, so sadly expensive CCTV upgrades probably aren't top of the list.

I live just around the corner, and pass that junction daily.

There is no way that is an accident, the road just does not flow that way at that point.

Regarding the CCTV - mbames is right, councils run the CCTV and require licensing to do things like have an ability to read plates. Your dashcam also doesnt need to deploy 50+ remotely controllable PTZ cameras running live feeds at 24fps or above to central storage over shoddy cabling. ;-)

ANPR is a totally different beast, running on top of an existing newer CCTV system.

Im well aware of the complexities of CCTV systems I used to work at TIS in Mansfield. I was just pointing out what members of the public were writing on the polices website. It is rather outdated stuff though. That specific PTZ has been up at least 15 years probably more like 20. The reason councils can't afford decent equipment is down to pfi contracts and only being able to order from specific approved suppliers who are selling them shoddy overpriced kit because they can. Money still changes hands with councillors in brown paper envelopes unfortunately and they continue to blame the Tory Cuts. Look at a private companies CCTV systems and they will have used a decent tendering process and secured much better kit / value for money. Anyway I digress the point is the camera Is crap and needs upgrading and the police will always have top gear when it means less boots on the ground and easy money making cash cow.

I've got one, and there's another in the next road and another 3 just in my small town.

It does look very deliberate to me, maybe the pub has cctv?
