What you have been waiting for! :- 16MY Spec Octavia

BTW... Is it just me or has the USB and audio jack moved to the passenger side, or has it always been on that side? I seem to recall getting a bit frustrated it was on the drivers side in the car I test drove.

Definitely looks like it has moved from what I remember.

Great minds lol

Mine is a 150 diesel in race blue too but only Elegance (old school) &

5.8"

Do you think if the screen fails under warranty I'll get a 6.5" version for a replacement!? Lol

Always been on the left hand side (usb & phone jack) as is on my '14 Elegance.

Which side is the handbrake on? It's difficult to tell in the photograph. Have the labels for the automatic gearbox always been on the drivers side on RHD cars?

The USB jack is on the passenger side of my MY15 Elegance.

yep :-)

That's a shame, but I shouldn't have been so quick to get my hopes up. It was never very likely. It's clear that companies like VAG, with no significant presence in the UK (Bentley doesn't count), care much less about the UK market than companies which do have bases here.

You do have one advantage. It looks like you pull the gearlever towards the driver when going manual on the DSG?

On LHD cars its pushed away from the driver in manual mode. Would prefer the opposite.

It's the same in the UK on the DSG box. We have to push the gear-lever over to the left (away from the driver) to go manual.

3. if you order smart link then you get android auto, apple car play and mirror link functionality.

4. If you order smart gate you can look at all sorts of engine data.

Are these two hardware or can they be enabled by VCDS :notme:

The smart gate is a physical bit if kit, you can buy it as an aftermarket part if you want.

From reading the brochure it requires wifi as that's how the data is transfered (smartgate). So that would suggest hardware needs to be there.

But then again it might not!

smart link is apparently a software licence issue so may be something dealers can do, smartgate is hardware but can apparently be retro fitted, I think there's a thread running on here where someone has done it

Oh.. It looked like it wasnt inverted. A shame.

thats why the bonnet pull is on the left too, although there is a great chunk of the world and their markets drive on the left, its r and d costs, why its designed as a lhd

How you picked it up yet Warkman? Any other MY2016 differences?

Not until 29th that's my lease change date

  • 2 months later...

And yet Ford manage to do a proper RHD conversion in both the Fiesta and Focus, even though the latest Fiesta is obviously a much cheaper car than the Octavia (and definitely feels it).
