VAG DPF cleaned and reset
I assume there is a setting in VCDS to tell the car it has a new/clean DPF

Speedo Reading 10% low - fixed with VCDS
It doesn't give you accurate result if the car isn't recording all of the miles it's driven!!!

Speedo Reading 10% low - fixed with VCDS
Tested using cruise control, I noticed that my speedo was reading 10% down on my relatively new to me octavia with new 225/45 R17 tyres. VCDS -> Modules -> Instruments -> Long Coding Mine was originally set to option 0, option 1 made no difference, option 2 has made the speedo very accurate, I estimate reading 0.5mph lower than GPS. There are a total of 8 options. Since the change naturally the MPG has increased by 10% as the car is accurately recording the mileage it travels. However, I have to assume that my 126k is in fact 139.5k. Used info from this thread to assist: https://forums.ross-tech.com/index.php?threads/402/

Glow plug replacement
I do not agree they are serviceable wear items. There are two conditions, working or not. Replace one at a time. I have heard of multiple garages refusing to replace 1 glow plug and insisting to do the whole set which is a problem if they are throwing a £130/glow plug at your car for no reason.

Unexplained Coolant loss
Garage warned us about the EGR cooler leaking coolant straight in to the exhaust.

COOLANT CHANGE
My partners car had a lack of heat on the drivers side and heavy contamination from exhaust in the coolant, it came out muddy brown which can't be good. Reading about the difficulties of flushing this engine and having to essentially replace the coolant 5 times, I took the expansion tank off, the two bottom radiator hoses, and the top connection to the heater matrix then basically aimed my hose pipe with a nozzle into all of the unplugged connections until the water coming out ran clear. After a couple of hundred miles there is still some minor contamination but it's far better than it was.

COOLANT CHANGE
For what it's worth to drain the coolant; Undertray off, expansion cap off. Ignition on, heater to Hi Pull the connector from the temp sensor on the bottom left radiator hose, then the bottom left radiator hose. Then pull the bottom right radiator hose for the charge cooler circuit. Refit hoses and refill, drive on local roads where you can stop regualrly, expect to get alarms for low coolant around three times, stop, top up, continue driving.

Should I buy a 2.0 tdi 150?
Well yeah, it's a Euro 5 EA288. No recalls come up. Why wouldn't you touch it?

Should I buy a 2.0 tdi 150?
Do you have any info? I've just got an early 13 plate 2.0TDI MK3 and it doesn't have the pressure sensor on the 3rd glow plug and there is something different around the end of the exhaust cam on the side of the head compared to my other 66plate 2.0TDI. As well the later car is significantly better on fuel.
