Aircon not working

Featured Replies

Sorry to bring up an old thread but I have information that others might find helpful. In relation to the shut down code 8, I was experiencing the same symptoms as the original poster, I had just fitted a new condenser, pressure switch, and re-gassed the system. Everything was reading correctly but I was still getting shut down code 8. All the temperature sensors were reading correctly on VCDS. I had a bad battery in the car and it was going dead overnight, after fitting a new battery and starting the car a few days later, the air conditioning started working perfectly and there was no more fault codes. It is working perfectly ever since perhaps disconnecting the battery allowed the sensors to read correctly again. Hopefully somebody finds this useful

What I suspect happened is the electronics suffered one or more brown-outs when you tried to start with a shagged out battery and this caused memory corruption.

Replacing the battery was all that was required to hard reset the system(s) by taking all power away for a short time.
