Leon Cupra...

Featured Replies

Get an MX5 with a hard top :D

and a turbo

cool avatar :D

Go for it... Just check all the usual bits relating to all VAG cars with the 1.8T engine.. Coilpacks, DV etc etc...

Also check the door seal mod has been done,, should have been, if not then doors fill with water and lets it in the car...

Clutch master cylinder is another common problem...

Also the paint is even softer than the usual VAG...

so check for chipped paintwork.. common on Imperial blue.. which was discontinued when the 'big bumper' facelift occured..

Leon Cupra will 'feel' quicker due to 6 speed box.. And it is marginally to 60..

It has better lights, better Climate control interface, far better stereo..

downsides, the LC is more thristy than the vRS... 28 vs 34mpg....

good luck...

cheers

Yes I'll be selling the car.

Ecklad, thanks for the advice, but one thing that does puzzle me is how is the LC more thirsty than the Octy when it has the same engine and weighs less

I think the Cupra had a facelift around 2 years ago. Is it the the facelift model? Has a bit of a body kit and 17" 5 spokes rather than the 16" multispokes.

yeah i thought the leon would be very similar in mpg

oh i maybe interested in your little golf if ur selling. any news on your current fault?

God only knows why but both my Leons struggled to get over 30mpg...

maybe due to aerodynamics????

as the Octy is faster top end, or different top gearing???

The LC was facelifted at the beginning of the 52 plate so these are 3 years

old now....

So if the one you are offered has 16inch 20 spoke alloys + no white dials or bodykit then it is a pre-facelift car on a 02 or earlier...

cheers

Right, its 3 years old, just under 14k miles, imperial blue, 16" multispokes, revo.

Edit: Kenny, see other thread.

sounds like it could be a nice car for the money

Buy it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

IMPORTANT Imp blue was the worst colour for bad paint, check the stone chips,,, as the paint work on mine would chip very easily..

Also its a nightmare to re-spray being a 'pearl effect' colour.. Also make sure

the door seal mod has been done....

cheers

AFAIK he's moved back in with his folks as he was house sharing with 2 other guys who have now moved on and left him with nobody to split the rent with.

Correct.

And the likelihood is, if I moved out again, I'd want it to be my own place. I dont earn enough on my own to get a mortgage for anywhere even fairly poor to live, so its back here, and I may as well have some consolation.

Incidentally, I'd be paying

Honda Civic Jordan

Honda Integra Type R

Weren't the later Cupras over 200bhp, with the R at 225? I'm sure they're 210.

You could get a 1.8T toledo still under warranty for your budget.

Cupra's were always 180bhp, the early R's were 210 but soon changed to 225.

ahhh i see Paul reading you posts is like wathcing a Soap, your whole life mapped out for all to read, i love it... somedays i think wow whats going to happen next! ;):D
