Line on screen, What is it?

Featured Replies

Been meaning to ask this one for couple of years now, but what actually is the purpose of the line on the screen of a mk2 Fabia????

Eh?  Narrow it down a bit.

Do you mean the horizontal lines on the maxidot?

Surely they're there simply to segregate the separate bits of info.

It is a Diversity Aerial,  lots of threads on it if you search.

Mine is not connected.

First Replacement Windscreen and they never bothered.

2nd Replacement had no Diversity Aerial.

3rd Replacement in now and i never bothered connecting.

I listen to the Engine not the Radio.

It replaces the " ON " button as found in the MkI Fabia Vrs

Diversity aerials ensure the best reception quality even when the available radio signal is poor. High-rise buildings and hills reflect the electromagnetic waves from radio and television transmitters. For this reason, an aerial receives not just one signal, but also staggered signal reflections, which may impair reception quality. This is referred to as multi-path interference. With the Diversity Aerial system, the radio signal is received by more than one aerial (up to four) and the receiver filters out the signal interference by intelligently combining the signals from the different aerials.

He mans the think black line on the windowscreen. ;)

if you ever take out the interior light in the roof youll see the connector for it and a small ribbon cable going off to the top of the screen, i had a good luck when i was fitting my blutooth microphone,

on a side note it would look like you have as much luck as me in getting stone chips on the windscreen, ive never owned a car thats so prone to getting hit so much by stones off the road.

Not getting hit with stones,

its mostly parking up near a Sand Quarry and Sharp Sand blowing hard and leaving it looking like at a star lit night through the screen.

Than on Occasion if you hit something you should not and rebuild the front a Windscreen can be a necessity.

Same with DRL's. sometimes occasional flying stones, but occasionally hitting immovable objects, or wildlife. (dead life)

hmmm guess ive just been unlucky, it just seems to attract stuff to hit the windscreen, no idea if its to do with the way the bonnet height and the angle of the windscreen, my monte had 3 big chips i managed to get repaired before they started cracking, once was starting to go again when i traded it, the vrs in the last 3 months has got loads of tiny chips all over the screen, i think ill just end up with a new screen when i eventually get a decent enough hit to crack it.

Always a good idea to see there is a screen in stock before having an 'accident' with a screen.

Shortages at times for the correct ones.

(but maybe we have caused those shortages!!!)
