Passenger window short term fix needed

Featured Replies

Hi

Yesterday I headed the dreaded couch when my vrs passenger window was down. I removed the door card and am ordering a new regulator.

However the window will not be fixed until next week. I have managed to lift the window and now it is only about and inch from closing.

Is their any way I can push this up to fully close the window (rain forecast tonight) So far I haven't forced it as was worried about cracking the glass.

I know you can undo the bolts on each carrier however want the window to be tight so I can stil use the car over the weekend.

Any help appreciated

THANKS

Take the bolts off the carrier and push it fully closed.

Cut a bit of wood and wedge it in.

Other than stripping it down and moving the wires if they havnt snapped to raise it up.

Most people just push the window up and wedge some cardboard into it.

Thanks for the quick reply.

Probably a stupid question but where would you put the wedge? Also if you use cardboard I guess this will go in the gap between glass and inside door?

The window has moved up so far by hand can it be forced any further or do I have to undo the bolts?

Cheers

If the cable has snapped it will pull up. If it's still tight because they are tangled don't force it, you will need to undo the bolts.

Yeah I normally see them wedges between the glass and the door card.

The wood usually replaces the full regulator. I'm amazed how many people do this DIY.

You can also buy a cheap suction cup dent puller and stick it on at the bottom of the glass inside the car and that will hold the window shut for you.

Thanks,

I found some wood and wedged several pieces between the glass and door, also taped the sides of the glass with tape just to be on the safe, seems solid and safe now.

Thanks again

No problem
