Excessive rear brake pad wear - old/new Octavia/Superb

Featured Replies

Any of you experienced rear pad problems on the new octy and superb.Problems such as pads wearing quicker than usual and the n/s/r wearing quicker than the o/s/r.In our garage we are experiencing metal to metal contact. The only reason the customer knows somthing is wrong when they hear the pads squealling. I am doing a collage project on them and need lots of feedback. My aim is to try to make them last longer or fit a set of rear sensors. All feedback much appreciated.

Mod's Note: I have amended the thread title and moved this thread to where it should attract more attention - and hence feedback. DGW

Superbs do go through rear pads quite quickly. Usually rears need changing before the fronts.

If pads are wearing unevenly this is usually due to the pads themselves getting stuck in the carriers due to rust. Metal shims on the carriers help with this as does adheasive on the back of the pad to make sure the pad moves back with the caliper as the piston retracts.
