Smartlink & Mirrolink in Ireland

Featured Replies

Hi everyone,

So I was in my dealer in Naas, Ireland waiting to speak with the salesman and there was a MY16 VRS in white on 19s looking very nice! So I decided to jump in and have a look. I played around with the Bolero stereo and Smartlink. I didn't have a key though. See screen grabs attached.

I also met GAFF (small world) who was looking at his new machine which was out the back pre PDI. A very nice machine!

So for Ireland Smartlink is standard on all VRS models but there is still an issue with Apple CarPlay that the Skoda Product person for Ireland is still working on.

Just thought I'd share.

Hi VRS@CW,

I also had a play with the showroom car....I thought I was prepared with an iPhone 6+ and a Samsung Galaxy S5 from work to try out the Smartlink.....unfortunately the S5 was only 4.4.2. I did get a chance to hook up the  iPhone....and Carplay worked. The phone connected easily and I was able to use the maps, messages and music functions. Looks good, brings a new aspect to texting while driving.

I wonder what this issue is....as it seemed to work okay for me.

The S5 is a work phone....its not on a network and we want to leave it on 4.4.2 for testing different Android versions.

I have an S4 myself, 3Ireland havent pushed Lollipop out yet due to an issue with its testing....

Ah OK. Mine is work phone too. If you want a cheap lollipop phone I replaced my Sony z1 (screen self destructed) with a Motorola moto g 4g. £105 from three UK and it's outstanding.

Good luck with the android auto! I read on the Android forums that some phones just didn't work for a time. That's why I am keeping my stock nexus5 for now.

Isn't Ireland such a wonderful small country where Kerry is just across the road from naas;-)

iOS

Excellent to see that it's working! Answers any doubts that I had over mine when it comes!
