Rear Wiper Motor - second opinion needed

Featured Replies

Hi,

I think my rear wiper motor has got a problem that is not fixable. I have screen wash coming out of the black circle part which is part of the wiper motor. Experience tells me this is not fixable and its time to get a new motor. I think rust has just started to settle in as you can here the blade slowing up on the wipe. Just looking for a second opinion.

I have attached some pictures

The washer fluid runs straight through the middle of the mechanism and out the jet. This is supposed to stay stationary whilst the outer part part holding the wiper blade turns. Inevitably it turns with the wiper, shearing the pipe, and so you end up with washer fluid in the wiper motor. Such a stupid design.

It is fixable, and there is a repair kit that replaces the central spindle, but it's a faff, and a pattern part is just about the same price.

I just spoke with TPS and the new part number for this motor is 1Z5 955 711C cost is £71.32+ VAT = £85.58

I asked about the repair kit but they did not know of one.

After market part from Euro Car Part £58.20

Had to replace mine too recently.

The £58 is an online only price only.

However if you just turn up at the counter and ask for the part they will try and charge you the higher price.

Play your face a little and they will give you the online price.
