Bluetooth OBD2 Readers

Featured Replies

Has anyone managed to buy one of these lately that actually really works? If so, where did you get it from?

Amazon- various ones on there of varying price and quality (in my experience). I'm on my second one which is still going strong after a year. First one stopped working after a few weeks. Link it up to Torque pro on android or CarDash on Windows Phone and you can read a lot of data from the car.

That isn't the particular seller I used but is the same as what I have which is the V2.1 not the 1.5.

Thanks

Ive just brought a v1.5 one off Fleabay.

I'll let you know how or if it works when it arrives

It's arrived and it works with both apple and android.

I've only tested it with carista on the iPhone and it reads codes.

To reset faults or change settings on your car you need the pro version at £15. I'm tempted to pay the cost TBH.

It connects to my Samsung phone, so I'll be trying a few apps out in the week on that too.

I did try another app (now deleted so can't think of the name of it now) but it didn't connect / work with the iPhone and the dongle.

Which one did you purchase please.

I have purchased 4 of these now, non would work properly with my bmw :(

I brought this one, item number 111688952857 from eBay

Ideal! Cheers for that :)

Thank you.

May send him a message and ask If I can pop over and test a few. I have a feeling the quailty control of these units is what makes some work and others not.

So far I've had 3 that won't work with carista. I've tried 2 phones and a tablet with no luck.

I've just ordered a WiFi one to try with the gfs iPhone, should be here tomorrow hopefully.

For an iPhone you must get a Wifi one. Bluetooth won't work as they don't support Bluetooth serial devices.

Yup, that's why I just went for a WiFi one to try this time :)

Update. WiFi and girlfriends old iPhone 4 worked a treat.

Scanned and found a couple of codes, most useful being the headlight washers leading me to a blown fuse - washers now work :) Cleared codes fine.

And I paid for the pro version.

Worth £15 just to be able to turn on anti hijack and unlock all on first click.

Also quiet beep on lock/unlock which is handy.

Had less success with extra tear drop wipe on screen wash though - looks like it's activated in the menu but doesn't work. And coming home lights used the xenon headlights - not what I was after.

Will play some more tomorrow :)
