Mistery box

Featured Replies

Hope somebody out there can help with this.

Proud owner of a recently bought mk2 Octavia. In the small compartment to the right of the driving wheel, I have a mistery box with a button and LED. When you hold the button down for a few seconds , you get a "beep" sound! Its not for the ejector seat the mrs is still there! The box is about 1 1/2" square with a blue "winged" type symbol on it.

Any answers?

Thanks

It's probably a cheapy "tuning" box - figuring out what it's wired into would help. If it is one of those, get rid of it - they're junk

Edit - sorry you meant inside the cabin not under the bonnet. Less likely to be one of those then, again tracing the wiring might be needed. Aftermarket parking sensors maybe?

A photo would be a good place to start.

My guess would be a wifi or bluetooth OBD connector, on a flylead from the socket below.  Is it fixed in place, or loose in the cubby box?

It replaces the " On "  button  found in the MK I Fabia

Underneath that box (the drop down one) is the OBD port. Is there anything connected into the port?

If so, it's most likely a BT code reader as stated above.

If there's nothing plugged into the OBD port then it's not.

Are there any wires coming out of the blue box thingy (pictures would help)?

Hi thank you all for the replies. It's not plugged into the OBD port. A link to the photo of the box is below

Some kind of Bluetooth device I'd say,,,,,,,,, see if your phone can see it when you turn on the phones BT

Looking at the picture its got a Boomerang on it, chuck it see if it comes back

Nothing comes up with the phone unless I need to download some App to go with this?

Can anybody identify the name of the company that produced this from the logo?

My guess is it is the remote control for a garage door opener.

Take off the cover for the fuses at the right end the dash and see if the same colour wires are tapped into a fuse.

Ejector seat?

Tried an image search on the logo but didn't get anything.

Does it have any kind of part number on the back at all?

Nothing on the box at all, just the logo, button and LED. A mistery!

Not a logo I recognise, another vote for tracing that wire to see where it leads.

My best guess is some kind of bluetooth device to allow a2dp streaming.

Do you have the V5 with the previous owner on?  You could always try asking them...
