Landsail LS988

Featured Replies

New post for me in the tyre section, I normally always use Kumho I always have, but at £50 a tyre it seemed ok but now I can get Landsail LS988's for £24! My car doesn't seem to like tyres for a long time anyway, so I thought I'd give it a shot.

Seem good to me and I will keep everyone updated I've ordered 4... Total of £97.16 for 205/40ZR17's

If anyone knows about these any input is welcome.

There are easier ways to find a ditch than buy £24 tyres. Good luck!

Seriously though, will be interesting to see how you get on, especially in the wet.

A few people in work have used them on a variety of cars, don't really drive like a maniac so should hopefully keep me out of a ditch. If tyres fail I'm hoping either esp or my driving can save me.

Landsail rated higher than a lot of well know tyres here.

Thats why there called " Landsail ", like Sailing in deep water but on dry land. It's like " :sun:  Sunny tyres  :sun:  " in the   :rain:  they should be called      " Not so Sunny "

Can't understand why folk pay thousands of pounds for cars then scimp on the only thing that keeps you on the road,

Each to there own

My car is chewing tyres, never drive like a maniac or on tracks so just needed some cheap tyres for the time being. These were just easy and cheap if they are rubbish il never get them again. They have arrived already and tread seems pretty good. On the euro rating sticker it's E for fuel and C for wet grip. Only time can tell (: if I post a picture of a written off Fabia then everyone knows not to get these.

Personally I'd be tempted to resolve the issue that's causing the car to chew up tyres. Those four little contact patches are all there is keeping you on the road... An area I've never skimped on. I guess you also appreciate that more expensive tyres will use a more advanced compound - usually designed to grip better and last longer. ie I'm happy to pay for Michelin knowing I'll get better mileage from them and benefit from top performance whilst they are on the car. :) Hopefully you'll be happy with the results.

I've had alignments done, tyres wear brilliantly just never last long, down to 2mm after about 5/6k don't drive extremely hard. Don't launch it from the lights or from a standstill. Just needed to get cheap tyres as money is tight atm and really didn't want to get any points. If these tyres are really that bad then they will be taken off and il have to use and abuse my credit card to get some Kumhos again.

5-6 k miles your doing something wrong. Tyres last around 15-20k miles if your driving steady on good tyres with no problems.

Good tyres and Uniroyal rainsport 3 brilliant in the wet.

Rainport 3's were good in the wet, but for me they only lasted the Summer, 8 months/7.5k miles. Rainsport 2 were the best ones I've had.

As many others has said, tyres and brakes are 2 things you don't skimp on. It's basically what keeps you on the ground and what stops you! It doesn't matter if you are a calm and steady driver, if a child runs out into the road, you HAVE to stop in an emergency. Will you stop in time on a soping wet road with cheap tyres and/or brakes?
