Nick, does the exhaust actually exit at the back on the 280 I.e. It's not just decorative trim?

Took these (crappy) photos for someone else, but should answer your question...

Smashing, thanks for that BillyJim

Just been to skoda to sign reg docs, took a peep at the new girl, got to say it looked the dogs do dahs in its gleaming jungle green, well pleased, and the rear wiper dont look to bad! Pick up thursday, rain forecast, allways does when i pick up a new car! Might need that rear wiper.

Sooty - you know the rules, pictures or it never happened! Dan

What does the rear badge say on a 280 (apart from 'Superb') please?

skoda and 4x4

Ta muchly

Looks great in the red Nick, thinking of this for the hatch unless I go for a 230 vrs

That looks spot on Sooty !!! It's a great colour and really works with those wheels,

My 280 arrived at dealers in jungle green,i like!!

Can’t wait to see this under natural light as the jungle green on our Yeti is certainly greener than these photos (but it does change in different light)

Pleased you like it Sooty. Told you my missus had a good eye ;)

So, what's the mpg damage on one of these? Sorely tempted for next year but 20k miles per annum is weighing on my wallet!!

Only done 200 miles so far, mostly urban, and getting about 28 mpg (according to maxidot).

350 miles and showing 24mpg. Mostly city and mostly in manual mode with autostop off. Also using upto 4k as much as possible in normal driving and varying the gears.

I considered it also but since I also do around 20K PA I thought it wouldn’t have been my best decision ... that was basing it on 40MPG (mainly dual carriageway / motorway)

Compared to 60MPG out of a 190 it was a no brainer IMO

That's not too bad, given your short commute & driving conditions.

If I use mine for local running around I'll see about 27 / 28 mpg, but since I don't............it's showing 37.7mpg as the long-term figure.

Nick, why are you driving in manual mode & spinning up to 4K, are you trying to run it in faster, or do you just like using the paddles?

My EOS has similar gearing to your car, (but only 250 bhp) & I might see 4K one a week if I drop into "S" mode, normally in "D" it just uses the low-revs torque to scoot. T'is an older car though & at 26K miles the engine has free'd up, especially since I bought it!

I very rarely use manual mode as such, I prefer to just use the paddles in "D" if I feel a need to shift for myself.

Keep enjoying your car, I thought that Red might have been a brave choice, but it does look good, especially with the silver roof rails & the nice wheels. Reminds me of my Tango Red Mondy Wagon........

No just sticking to the word of the manual. Don't exceed 3/4 max engine rpm which is around 4k for the first 1000kms Manual mode gives me the most control to do that. I can skoot off at the lights and hit 4k before I change up. Likewise down shifting for twisties or staying in 2nd or 3rd for twisties I can make sure I don't exceed my 4k limit.

Also may keep it in 3rd gear in 40 limit before say 4th for the next 40 limit etc.

At 600 miles I'll start to increase the revs 500rpm per 100 miles for the next 400 miles then all bets are off :-D

Don't get me wrong I'm not driving around everywhere at 4k I'm just varying the revs as much as possible over my allowed range...

Is everyone using 98 Ron ?

Well, I'm chopping the scout in but decided against the 280, or even a skoda.

They do look the Badgers nadgers though.

Is everyone using 98 Ron ?

I am. It's the recommended grade, although RON 95 can also be used.

That's a shame foo. Have you been pleased with the Scout ? What are you going for then ?

I would have probably gone for another Scout but it would have to have been a petrol and they dropped it from the range plus the Mrs didn't like the new styling.

Put £30 of 95 in the other day before I remembered ! Back to 98 for the next tank ...
