Having been to a main dealer today to look at the new VRS hatch the salesman said that they were all on offer with 0% finance....... is it really worth getting a nearly new one and then paying interest ?

I got this quote of orangewheels as well (see attached), and its pretty good.... also the salesman said you can not have heated front seats on the VRS unless you opt for the leather seats ???? The quote from orange seems to allow it as an option without leather ?

I've got heated standard seats as part of the 'winter pack'.

Probably the salesman is confused with have to have heated seats if you opted for leather.

If you can get that spec for £23774 on 0% I would be inclined to go new. When you look at the price of a nearly new vRS and factor interest and resale value it makes more sense financially. Plus you get the spec you want with full 3 yr warranty and that all important 'new car coming' buzz.

P.S. Don't forget to add the space saver spare wheel (£100 now or £280 retrofit)

Can i ask..... i would want the heated washer jets and the heated seats but i am a tad unsure about skoda's version of the ' heated screen ' ? What exactly is it, does it resemble the Ford one with the wave type lines thorugh the front screen that really did get on my nerves when we had an old fiesta ghia a few years back ?

So is the wheel worth having then ? Also can you have it if i opted for the Canton sound system (sub in the boot and all that).

Yeah the heated screen has the lines through it, they dont bother me too much though. You can have the spare wheel and the canton.

Yep, exactly the same type - I don't notice them while driving but I know some people do find them intrusive so try and track down a demo car to check first.

Definitely worth having the spare, Canton is not affected as the canton sub is in a box mounted to the LHS of the boot above the floor level.

Weigh up cost for both, also look at leasing, id go for a new one, the improvents and tweeks done to the my16 car over the dec13 built one i had makes it so much nicer to drive and be in

I have just had some finance quotes back from a main dealer who has a 64 plated model (basic no extras) up for £19,250 and over 42 months it is actually more expensive by a few £'s than buying a brand new one on 0% finance over the same term ! Yes the RV is higher but that is to be expected because its newer and will have a higher value when at the end of the primary term, if your handing it back anyway its not of concern....... are the days of nearly new cars over (if your financing them that is) ?

Now I have just come out of an S-Max after three years and say honestly say I never noticed the heating elements in the screen, I don't see them in the Freelander either.....

The heated screen is good and pretty invisible under some light conditions. I think the safety and time-saving benefits in cold conditions outweigh the perceived negative adjective of occasionally seeing the filaments. Having had a Mondeo and then a MkII Octy without a heated screen I deliberately waited for petrol VRS to have the heated screen as an option.

There does not seem to be great savings with the nearly new, unless you can negotiate them down a bit on the advertised prices.

Yeah, to make any worthwhile saving over new when you take into account cheaper finance, free services and so on, you need to be looking at 18 month old cars at least.

Thanks for the info, i may need to see one at a dealer as i am really fussy and i normally DO see the ' lines ' in the screen even when the dealer has said in the past they they are invisible (at a Ford dealership) i tend to see them.

I may just opt for the seats and the jets if i can see it and leave the full winter pack. I do get what you say about the front screen in winter but when the car is frosted over i clear the whole vehicle not just the front and rear screens, so if i cam clearing all the side windows as well....... the front one is no big deal.
