Two more things I've discovered on my vRS

Featured Replies

Yesterday I noticed for the first time ( as its getting dark earlier now) the little light in the lidded box in front of the gear lever- how cute  . Also just found the storage bay under the passenger seat - really useful  . I dont remember the sales person mentioning these things but perhaps I wasn't listening. What other little treats have I yet to discover?

Someone told me the ventilation automatically turns to recirculate when reverse gear is engaged - true or not?

secret compartment.... when u open ur can cooler - tug it a bit more. you could hide "little things" in there.

this is where VAG com plugs in.

That'll be the ash tray then!

True.

You found the little storage hole under the steering wheel? feel from near the bottom of the dash and work your way up (its NOT where the steering column goes into the dash, its below that. Get on your hands and knees and look into the car maybe...) I stick my garage door opener thing there. :)

Why would the ventilation go into re-circ mode when reversing? My radio volume goes down when I engage reverse but that's actually useful.

because do you really want a car full of diesel fumes when you reverse ???

My 1991 Corsa had a light in the ash tray

Reduced volume when reversing - now that is a clever idea!

Can't say i've really noticed it to be a problem.

I thought the reduced pressure behind a car when it was moving forwards at speed acted as a vacuum to help draw air stale in the cabin out through the vents at the rear of the car.

The car won't do the reverse and suck air in from the rear vents when you are in reverse though as you wouldn't be going fast enough (even if re-circ is off). In any case if your fan, a/c or climate control is on the cabin will be positively pressurised thus preventing it even if you reversed fast enough.

Interesting feature though, i'll look out for it on my Octy.

Steady on Johnny, a simple yes or no would have been sufficient I'm sure ;)

Sorry, i'm bored!

Idea is because your car will be travelling through a cloud of fumes or possibly into a garage in reverse... hence re-circ on = no air from outside of car in cabin... u dont die!

Answer is YES it does switch on in reverse.

who said anything about it getting sucked in the vents at the back how about when you reverse through the smog and it gets sucked in at the front

No smog around my motor unless i give it a bit of welly. Do you turn on re-circ everytime you pull up behind a diesel car in traffic? Is that not effectively the same thing?

yes it is but i dont control the car doing it do i lol

did i say i cared if the car did it nooooo i didnt

is it my fault skoda designed it like this noooo its not

IT JUST DOES IT OK !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

guess the idea is skoda want to look after their customers and keep them alive when parked in their garage!

guess its jst there to tick another box on safety something or other somewhere.

And in reverse gear!

Probably some daft european legislation.

That'll be the ash tray then!

May sound odd but it never occurred to me consider it an ash tray. As nobody smokes in my cars these receptacles are simply useful little storage things. I keep my bluetooth handfree ear piece in it.

I always wanted it to turn off when it's closed and turn on when it's open, like a fridge. But, no, it's on all the time :(

lol same here, I keep a stash of 50p's for the local toll bridge and pound coins for the jetwash in there. Had the car over a year now and although gf smokes i've managed to keep the no smoking in the car rule.

Other little features

When you have wipers on an engage reverese it'll wipe the back for you.

Parking lights if you leave the indicator on.

Rear seats are removeable

Little pockets on the side of the seats

Pen holder in the can the holder by your right knee

BTW do the petrol Fabias have the reverse/re-circ feature, i've never been in a petrol Fabia.

Things I've discovered with my Fabia....

No light in the boot - why? :( I hate having to grope around for that stray apple that's come lose from the shopping.

Perhaps the Fabia could borrow one of the octavia's in-boot lights? It's big brother has 2 of them ;)

Mine has a light, it's on the left hand side just under the parcel shelf support.

Have you checked the bulb?

It should have one on the N/S wheel arch covering.

Although I know they deleted the boot light from the later SEAT Ibiza's.

Mine has a boot light too!
