Fed up of radar cruise, can I turn the radar off?

Featured Replies

I'm fed of the car accelerating and braking continually, I don't want my speed to yo yo like the car in front anymore!!! Can I turn the radar off? It's a vicious cycle every time someone pulls in front of you, the car slows, someone else pulls in, the car slows, the next thing you know the cars going 55 with 70 (ahem) set.

Turn the cruise control off and use your feet

You can probably code out ACC in place of regular cruise....someone with VCDS skills might be able to advise.

I personally think its great though. If you have your ACC profile set to sport that might be your problem as it will inherrently accelerate more aggresively to get up to speed.

Can you not switch it off like you can lane assist ? Vehicle assistance selected on max idiot then click rh wheel could give you the option to turn it off or possible in settings on the infotainment unit

I havent seen any option to turn it off. I dont think its possible, or Im blind as a bat.

Surely it's going to be the same even if you drive the car manually? You will need to slow and then accelerate again by yourself. That's a fault with standard of drivers around you more than the cruise.

ACC cant be turned off in infotainment, only certain settings tweaked.

You cant code out the ACC, standard cruise uses a different control module and the ACC cannot act as standard cruise.

I think you need to adjust the settings, in effect reducing the range that the radar reacts, so you follow the car in front more closely thus reducing the gap for others to pull into.

Oh well, at least it was free, not for motorway use then. There is a useful safety element but I like cruise to be smooth, not changing speed all the bloody time. I have set it to eco to avoid it opening the traps fully. Once My old BMW went 7mph over cruise setting it was accelerating so hard after i pressed there resume button! I found the closer the distance set the more vigorously the car responds to the changes in front although it does stop people pulling in.
