Immobilizer issue!

Featured Replies

This might work .. as a temporary fix .. to get the car going.

Bought this didnt work, i presume as the key is fine. The box its self does something. After the 20 seconds per instruction you here the fuel pump... so i guess if you have a bad transponder this will work :)

 - So my issue, some other thoughts.

My traction/ esp light is on, yet when turning ignition on, pressing the button does not turn it off/ nor does the rear heated window button next to it... are these together on a relay??? Would a traction / esp fault cause the immobilzer to act up ?

Im clutching at straws here, before i admit defeat and am forced to pay for recover to be ripped off by Skoda main dealers :(

  • Those ebay immo defeat boxes should be made illegal, one reason why you should seriously consider altering the OBD port on your car to a non standard configuration so these boxes do not work and savin

Vag Commander is what you need. You can disable the Immo and retrieve the code for future use.

The box i used disabled the immo

But if the dash has lost coms / or immo code to the ecu then it wont work.

Where is the relay for the dash / ECU ?

There are plugs in the bulkhead (behind the dash) which connect everything up. Have you recently hit a bump or installed cruise control?

  • Author

No just disconnected the ecu to clean the contacts and clean all earth points in the engine bay. Then car has a million faults and immo blocking engine start :(

All the cable seated in the ECU correctly? No bent pins?

Is the earthing points all fitted correctly?

Checked the fuses on top of the battery?

Yep all done

Sounds stupid, what have you used to clean the contacts?

  • Author

electrical contact spray.

What prompted you to do this originally, what were the original faults?

  • Author

this fault :

01314 -  Engine Control Module
            49-10 -  No Communications - Intermittent

You definitely have either a broken wire or ECU fault.

The dash isn't communicating with the engine ECU, which is likely the reason for the non start, also the Gateway coding needs to be refreshed, recode it using the same code as it thinks that it's an all wheel drive automatic.

What is the coding on Engine [01] using VCDS?

What is the coding on Engine [01] using VCDS?

What do you mean? Your question doesn't make a lot of sense.

The coding, 00102 or 00105? See if the ECU is on the correct codebank.

Don't think it makes much difference in this case, because if the coding was wrong the glowing light would illuminate and flash.

Well, the coding is correct so that's not an issue.

I'm still working on the wiring has a break somewhere. Have you left the battery off over night to see if this changes anything?

Not over night but ive had the negative off for nearly a hour, then i connected the positive and negative together for 40mins.

didnt change anything.

So i plan on going over the ecu wiring .. its hard to see if there is a connection problem there.. but will check again... then im going to get into the relays ... again not to sure how a inspection can see a problem.

I was also wondering would a dash wire check/ removal do anything?

You could drop the Central Control module and the relays and see if there is anything loose. I has an issue similar to this and it appeared after hitting a pothole. The fault for me was the white plug at the bulk head had become loose causing the clocks not to talk to the ECU and giving me 30 faults and errors.

I think your issue must be engine side as that is the only wires you have moved. Something must of be rubbing somewhere in the loom and you unplugging has caused the wiring to separate.

Of course, all this is only theory...

Where to start ... the ecu wiring is tight and not far into the bulk head ...

It is wrapped nice and tight, but chaffing should be noticable.

Im more incline to think there might be loose connections into the socket. There is no outer damage on the wrapped loom. i checked that.. but internally unknown.

Darkness where is the original thread that led into this? Seems to have dissapeared been deleted? I'm sure you mentioned something about your battery? May be wrong or have it mixed up.
