Replacing Headlights Octavia III 2015

Featured Replies

Hi friends;

I am new with Skoda !
It's great , I love it !

I bought an Octavia lll 1.8 with Halogen (Basic) Headlight, cause I couldn't wait about 3 months for the ones with the Bi-Xenon mit Led (Top2) Headlights.
Actually I am very interested in the Led Daytime running light more than the Xenon light itself, However, I found out there is no basic Halogen lights that comes with those Leds.

The question is: can I replace my skoda basic headlights with the Bi-Xenon mit Led (Top2) ??

No, not very easily.

The headlights themselves are expensive as they come with igniters and ballasts as well as the more expensive xenon bulbs.

The connections are different and the car requires additional electronics to work the additional features that come with the bi-xenon lights (cornering function etc.)

Here in the UK we also need to fit auto leveling (sensors on the suspension and the associated wiring) and the headlight wash system.

So all in all it makes far more sense to have them fitted as a factory option.

Consider an aftermarket HID kit instead, but this still won't get you the LED DRL's.

You could retro fit them and get the LED DRL and the xenons (the bulbs/ballasts) working quite easily, but you wouldn't have the AFSII functions or self Leveling.

The LED DRL's in the headlight also have ballasts, these are essentially constant current drivers to ensure the longevity of the LED's.

The have 2 power supplies from the ECU although if retrofitting you would only need to take one.

1) a constant voltage supply that doesn't dip when cranking (so the lights don't flicker every time start stop works)

2) a PWM signal to control their brightness

If you did it you would need to make a patch harness to sit between your harness and the headlight, and have 2 new headlights complete with LED ballasts and HID ballasts. (and be quite good with electrics)

Failing that a complete retrofit as stated by silver

Hello I'm new here. I wanted to ask if it is possible to fit the xenon top2 lights and which parts will I need ? I now have the top1 xenon without the led DRL.

The lights are fine but I really miss the led drl.THX
