Delivery options VCDS?

Featured Replies

Hi Guys,

Since ordering my car I have been glued to this site in order to get acquainted beforehand of things to expect with the car itself and familiarise myself with it all. I'll let you all know about my so called "smart-link" problems - if and when they surface.

A bit of guidance needed as this is my first new car purchase and not familiar with getting a new car.

I've read on threads that when delivery takes place you can ask for some VCDS tweaks to occur.

Firstly, What exactly happens on a delivery of the car? what should I expect and what should I look out for?

Secondly, is this VCDS tweak standard or is this a case of trying your luck and seeing if the dealer "wouldn't mind" you getting a quick hook-up for a needle sweep or whatever. I wouldn't mind having a few things done if possible.

In my opinion, these little things should be free and all part of the new car experience - but judging by my dealers non-caring attitude - I can imagine he'll want me off the forecourt as soon as possible.

Any info/help on this would be great.

Thanks in advance.

Dealers do not use VCDS

Do your research on what can be done to your car and ask the dealer to activate them during the PDI, they should already have the car hooked up to ODIS anyway so it should not be a problem.

A good dealer will spend some time with you explaining EVERYTHING about the car, our dealer spent about an hour explaining everything to SWMBO, other dealers will no doubt just throw the keys at you and bid you farewell.

The only thing I will say is they should be able activate the auto locking feature once you set off without much hassle(even though my dealer was adamant it could be done via the head unit, even confirming with a technician that it was so(turns out it is the case in octavias so said technician assumed it would be the same in the fabia)).

I believe it even says in the manual that you can do it via the bolero head unit however you cannot. It has to be activated whilst being hooked up so ask them(or tell them) you want that done(if that is indeed something you want).

The dealer will go over everything that you can customise within the car, or should do. With regards to tweaking while plugged in I doubt you will have much luck but worth a go.

I'm in the same position as you, I've ordered mine 5 weeks ago and since that Im glued no this fórum and others :D

I'm thinking on starting right down on a paper some tweeks I want for my car when he arrives..

I'm pretty sure that i have the option to enable auto locking in my head unit.

Yep you will do but I only after that feature is enabled in the coding (by your dealers)... And then you can access the setting in Bolero to turn it on/off
