Full tank is 70l. Volumic mass of petrol is around 0.8kg/l. This means ~56kg. Removing 2/3 saves only 37 kg. Compared to a car weighting about 1600 kg... I don't think you can save that much on mpg. Better increase tyres pressure, clean all filters, shut A/C off, feather the throttle and... ask SWMBO to get off the car...  One should save more than 37 kg...😁

Wow I was 9kg out. The good news is after having Covid-19 a month ago I'm now 4kg lighter which means with approximately 23 litres left the car has to move 41 kg less weight than last month when I was 98kg.:nerd:

A full tank is more like 65kg and with one third of a tank left would explain how I managed a 44.4mpg on my commute tonight. I doubt I could have achieved that with a full tank. Skoda combined figure for my car is 39.8mpg so by beating it by 10% I also lowered my co2 from 161gm/km to about 145gm/km. Good for my wallet and the trees.;)

Tank is 66 litres Not the 60 I thought You can squeeze a bit more in I know but if you run with nothing in your going to run out so realistically 66 is a max difference between brim full and empty enough you need to find a garage urgently but i would tend to run a min of 60 litres Below full.

I don’t know what heavy fuel you’re  using (yes diesels a bit heavier but still around 0.8) petrol or has a specific gravity of  0.739

so weight 0.739 kg per litre.

Realistic 60 litres from full the the least I want to run around with.

i will stick with my maths just over 44.3 kilos. Or as I said just over 40kg.

😁😁😁

1.4 tsi and taking it easy out of town regularly get 50mpg

lazy long run a Week or so back (supporting a vulnerable relative by going and fetching his drugs from a pharmacy)  I averaged 56 mpg 😁

In 2016 I had a 1.4TSi Superb and regularly averaged 50mpg with 700+ miles per tank. Best was 800 miles on 66 litres.

Wow, I hadn't realised what an exciting, nitpicky, topic I was setting in motion here !

All I originally meant was that in this coronavirus era fuel stations, which have never made a great deal of profit from fuel anyway and are currently suffering from much reduced sales which will leave many facing permanent closure, may well end up with all available staff either self-isolating or in hospital.

My nearest proper petrol station is 35 miles from my home. This means that when I come home from town, the next time I'm back I will have used up another two gallons. Therefore, even if I was witless enough to want to drive around with only six litres in the tank it would be a physical impossibility.

If I were to turn really pessimistic I might suggest that if I came down with a severe case of coronavirus infection, and the local ambulance was unavailable, my wife might have to drive me to the hospital in Inverness, which is over 100 miles away, and then get herself home again.

On the basis of all this, I trust that the impressive level of mathematical expertise already demonstrated in this thread will allow people to see why I keep my tank topped up.

Lol

fair enough

the maths was more about the weight of fuel.

My sparring partner is right of course the volumetric conversion for Errol is loser to 0.8 not the specific gravity which isn’t the figure for converting volume to weight 😁

but still a long way off 1l being 1 kilo

😊

And I thought this was a picture thread 😃

It is..... it's a "pictures of SHYVRS245's fuel consumption readout" thread.

@Evka Really nice !

Are these 20 inches tyres or only 19 inches with lowered springs?

That's a very nicely done Superb @Evka :)

Can I ask wat front lip spoiler u have on it?

It's subtle, yet adding a nice presence.

@JR RS So subtle, that I hadn't noticed it before reading your post.

Okay, I've first seen the pic on my smartphone... 😁

Bored at work in the sunshine so why not.

By the looks of it yes....http://www.superskoda.com/Skoda/SUPERB-III/Superb-III-front-grille-in-OEM-honeycomb-design-KI-R

Was hoping someone had done it to a lighter coloured car (brilliant silver to be specific)

It looks like it has a small gloss cover to go over the radar 👍

Someone here needs to approach Triple R Composites to get a Superb splitter made up.

The Maxton quality ain’t great, TRC on the other hand...

The ends by the arches look different to yours.

FYI it’s a https://www.maxtondesign.co.uk splitter.

I nearly bought one but thought they stuck  out too far... yours doesn’t look like it does though.

+1

I was going to say the same - the link in @Evka's post appears to b a different design.

The Maxton Design v3 splitter is not subtle like the one on Evka's Superb.
