Featured Replies

As the title... I took the head off my asz engine vrs. All was fine but when I moved the head off the sheet that I was working on I noticed this little part.

Chances are it is nothing to do with this car as I have had pleanty of things apart on the same sheet so could have been picked up or left over from something else but just want to make sure.

Think This is two small, there are two there already about the diameter of a t pence, is that what you mean?

This is about 3-4mm in diameter

Look down the ends of your injector rockers, it's the blank from inside one of the two.

Any idea how to refit? also does it need sealing in place?

I squash mine down so they get a it wider and knock them back into place so it's a nice tight fit, they are soft metal.

Cool sounds good, where exactly do they go?

Look at the ends if the injector rocker arms, you'll see a hole that size

How important are they? I found something similar under my rocker cover gasket..

It looks like one of those little hydraulic plugs used to make a cross-drilled hole blind at one end, you counterbore the hole to create a shoulder, then pop the plug in and tap it with a drift to set it in place.

Not sure how important they are, I've always refitted them to be sure. Once you squash them in a vice slightly they get shorter and fatter, when refitting they are a very right fit so dout it will come out.

Id say 8 out of 10 are loose that I've done.

If they're hydraulic plugs then they're probably fitted to force oil to flow through a cross drilling in the rocker to feed oil from the main rocker shaft bearing to the cam roller. You're supposed to fit them in place then squash them with a drift and a sharp tap from hammer, the bit on the top is a wedge which is driven into the plug creating an interference fit, you can see a slight indentation where it was previously peened.

Check these out, they're what I've used in the past:

You get the idea.
