Engine vibrating a lot on idle.

Featured Replies

The Duel mass could just fail yes but not very unlikely to cause any problems apart from you being broke down with no drive.

Wouldn't cause anything else to brake. To behonest. In expense wise standerd just parts will be best part of £300 labour on top about 200 but uprated parts depending on your route can cost anywhere upwards of 800

Has anyone who has had this issue or known someone who has experienced problems putting the car into gear?

The vibration on idle is continuing even with the clutch down but it's less noisy than with it up.

Also has anyone experience engine juddering whilst driving?

I know this is an expensive thing to have fixed so I'm trying to get a better idea of it before I get the garage to have a look.

Ye I'm leaning away from the cause being the DMF altho mine is a little rattly..

I saw a post on the VRS Facebook page the other day with the exact same issues that were describing. The most common issue is apparently the injector loom which was mentioned further up this post.

Would imagine that's the cheapest option to start with..

Is your mpg low'ish by interest?

Have a read of this - I had this nightmare & in the end up I had to get rid of the car it were driving me mad.

...really miss that car too :/

Read from page 1 and it doesn't inspire confidence.. Although mine has only done it since the cambelt and auxiliary belt were changed..

And my alternator pulley is squeaking at cold start-up.. so I'm thinking a change of pulley and check the timing.. see what's what.

right all is not lost

i have a BLT ibiza and have cured this warm up idle issue.

basically betwee SOI maps for 61c and 65c the timing has some weird values for idle.

this issue usually starts when temp gauge around 70c so is switching between maps as car actually around 60c

all i did was make the 61c and 65c SOI maps the same and prob cured :-)

Theres around a degree difference in the SOI

SOI = start of injection

Lets hope that is your issue. :)

This is what my engine was doing

I am getting the car looked at by some skoda specialists then hopefully I will know where I stand. After describing the symptoms they straight away said it sounds like DMF wear.

I've recently had to spend £500 on the car on brakes, calipers and tyres etc so I'm not getting rid of it. Besides its a great car. In answer to the mpg. If I thrash it around I get 40-45mpg but normal and motorway 50-60 mpg.

I've had the car looked at by a vw skoda specialist and it appears that the vibrations and engine juddering are due to 1 or 2 of the injectors not performing properly. The guy was very helpful and connected up the VAG and showed me how the cylinders are performing differently at certain rev ranges.

It may have something to do with the Cam but it is fairly unlikely. I've been given some injector and turbo cleaner to run for 1/2 tank to see if it improves it at all. Then the garage will have a more in depth look at the engine.

Injector wiring loom becomes brittle with age as it's in oil. Also check your alternator pulley to see if it's seized. Seen them shake cars violently when seized. After that I think your looking at the expensive options chocolate camshaft or dmf kaput.

I was told about the loom going brittle. If nothing improves with the injector cleaner etc. (I don't think it'll make any difference) then they will go more in depth to find the issue. He did say that he's nearly 100% certain it's not the DMF which is good news as that and the clutch will be £600+
