Hi there,

since some month I am a proud owner of a Skoda Rapid Spaceback.

It's really a great car!!! I love it!

I have the Swing stereo built in with an external USB port and an AUX port.

Now I have several questions:

1. When playing music from USB pendrives, this is working fine, but when connecting an Android smartphone (also using USB), the music playback stops after some minutes with the MDI module resetting. Sometimes it starts playing from scratch again until the next hang-up, sometimes I have to disconnect the phone and re-connect it to get music working again. Does anyone know, why that happens? This is happening with two different Android phones. Does anyone know how to fix that?

2. When connecting an iPod, it is not recognized at all. I know there's a special adaptor  cable for  iPod availabe, but as the iPod also has a USB cable and as my MDi port is already connected to the USB/AUX module, I would like to connect the iPod using USB. Does that work somehow? How can I do that?

3.  Just in case there's a new firmware available: How can I find out the firmware currently installed on my device?

4. I heard that my car radio might already include support for digital radio (DAB+). Is that true? Is there a way to unlock it? Is there some firmware update available?

Thank you in advance for helping me!!!

Best regards,

Box

1. MDI with android?  You could use Bluetooth instead if your car has it.  Also USB connected storage must be FAT16 (<2GB) or FAT32(>2GB) format:

2. iPod needs dual USB/3.5 cable from Skoda or BMW(Mini) or ebay (but some do not work). Also need genuine Apple Litening connector for iPhone 5 / nano 7 or newer model.

3. ?

4. ?

1. I'm currently using Bluetooth, but with the MDI interface I would also be able to use the navigation buttons on the steering wheel to navigate through the songs.

2. Do you have some link or order# for this dual USB/3.5 cable? I didn't find that.

3. thanks :-)

4. You may have heard of the digital radio standard DAB+ (successor to the analog FM) and someone told me that the Swing radio system might already include this digital tuner but it's disabled in some configuration...

Thanks for your answers!!!

1. With Bleutooth I can   |<<  /  >>| music but that's all.  I can use an SD card instead for more control of songs.

2. the official Skoda part is $$$$ but the official BMW Mini one is $$$, ebay is $$ - look on Skoda.de or BMW.de for accessories / tuning.

3. I think is a label on the back of the radio?

4. I like DAB+ , I have Amundsen+ with DAB, not Swing in my car.
