Best place to sell a car.

Featured Replies

Hi might seem like a daft question but I'm curious as to where people sell their cars.

I don't think selling cars is a strong point for me as I always seem to struggle to get rid, no matter how cheap I seem to put them up.

Is there a certain knack to it or is there something I'm missing.

I've done private sale and frankly never again. I'll take the loss on trade-in just to have the damn thing go straight away with no problems. My time/health is worth more to me than the couple hundred quid difference on the cars I've sold.

Gumtree, eBay etc Is always full of time wasters, it's always the usual questions. What's your best price, ask you questions that you've stated in the advert. Best place I'd say is auto trader!

Maybe try advertising on a car forum.

I hear there is a Skoda one called Briskoda that is very good value and reaches the sort of market that buy a Fabia vRS.

If you get messed about by potential buyers that turn out to be tyre kickers or dreamers, well you just shame them.

Good call, George!

Lupoluke, as far as I know, you'll just need to pay the small amount to become a FREEDOM member on here, then you can sell away!

And yes, as well as Briskoda, you could try AutoTrader, I've used it before now, most recently the online version to find good used cars, located my present Roomster that way from a small garage in Nottinghamshire, and as others have said, simply negotiated a trade-in there of my Mk 1 Fabia 1.4tdi against the Roomster, a lot less hassle!

BTW, I'd have thought a Mk1 Fabia VRS on here (Briskoda) would sell very quickly and easily.

Or if you dont to go full freedom, pay for the 30 day classifieds access...

Cheers for the replys I'll get an add up here over weekend when I go on the lap top.

I didn't even think of posting it on here for some reason, I didn't think the classifieds were that busy but after flicking through it appears they are.

I'm going to reduce the price a little and for a brisky member I'll throw a GT1749VB in which has been stripped and cleaned but requires a new core.

I sold my last car through eBay which surprised me as I had it advertised on here and autotrader

It does make sense, because people do buy cars they see on Ebay, Autotrader, Gumtree, Briskoda etc.

So that means someone sold from advertising there.

If selling one car it is only one buyer you are looking for,

unless you are a 'Deposit Taker' and a Deposit Keeper, and there are plenty of those advertising cars for sale,

even people advertising cars they do not actually have,  The Ebay & Gumtree way.

I've sold my cars on car forums and the odd one on eBay no problems at all
