Yeti off-road

Featured Replies

Had a little jaunt yesterday afternoon along a local by-way on the way back from Machynlleth.

Some of the pools are about a foot deep.

I do hope that was just you dropping the camera at the end Graham :)

Sent mainly by pure luck using Tapatalk

cool video and absolutely fantastic vehicle

It fell out of it's holder!!

Yeah - about that bit at the end...

As the camera moves we catch a glimpse of your bare feet in sandals. We Yetiists are supposed to wear socks with our sandals.

Tattoos next then?

I may have driven the same route years ago, en route Corris - Cleobury, did it in a Mk2 Golf , it was after a longish dry spell though!  -  happy memories

Did you have the Caravan on the back Graham?

But when did you go off-road?

We're civilised in the UK; our roads have tarmac on them.  ;)

175GDY is correct IMHO. That is a road...albeit unmade.

Is that really classed as Off Road. My son and family live in a converted cow shed and the 1/2 mile drive to it is hoggin. I don't class it as Off Road just unmade road...similar to that shown in the video.

I suppose it begs the question, what is TRUE Off Road. Should anything that's not tarmac or cement be classed as Off Road when in fact it could be a road.

Should a road that is only passable with a 4x4 or similar vehicle be classed as Off Road.

Maybe it's been particularly dry there and it's a nearly dried up riverbed :bandit:

OK.

If you want to be pedantic any Vehicular Right of Way is still covered by the Highway Acts and all the other relevant legislation, from VED to speed limits.

However in the 4x4 world it is generally considered that "off-road" is when the vehicle is taken away from "tarmac" roads, shown as blue, red, brown or yellow on the 1:50000 OS Landranger map and is using either a By-way Open to All Traffic (BOAT) or an Other Route with Publlc Access (ORPA), or is being used in a specific area that has been set-up legally for them to use, such as a 4x4 Centre.

Therefore "off road" can be any surface, and can be driven by any "capable" vehicle. A 4x2 Yeti would easily cope with the route I drove, and I don't doubt that with a great deal of care a lot of normal "cars" would cope with a lot of it, especially when it hasn't rained. Plenty of night-time Road Rallies use similar routes for section on their Events; they call them "whites" but they are still are considered "off-road".

So yes, your son's farm drive is "off road" but unless it fits in the legal definitions above only he and his visitors can legally use it.

pfft, even 2WD 1.2 yetis can go off road then

Llanigraham's journey looks like everyday roads to me... :rain:  :|
