Adding TV to Columbus

Featured Replies

I'm sure there was a thread somewhere about adding the L&K TV tuner. However I can't find it. Someone said they had been told that the Columbus is different on the none L&K versions so you couldn't add one.

I can now confirm that's not true. It's quite  job and I do have an antenna fault (only one is working, to be investigated and fixed) but I now have a TV tuner on my Elegance.

That's pretty neat, have you any details on what's needed or involved?

Cbeebies would help with mini me lol

It's a big job, mostly because I didn't find anywhere to buy the wiring so made my own.  I'll try to do a write up of the basics. The main message is don't believe its impossible!

Now you just need a second battery so you can make use of it lol (sorry)

I always just thought it could be fitted to any Columbus/RNS 510 anyway.

I've been toying with the idea of a HDMI to video converter and then an MHL adapter to mirror my phone screen. I get unlimited data  so could just use the TV Catchup app to watch TV. Would help with the boredom while waiting for ferries etc.

had it fitted and working in my Octavia on the 510, basically you need an adapter that plugs into the back and a live feed, 1 Freeview box and 2 Ariel's

Yes that's another way, where I used the actual TV tuner as used in the L&K, fitted in the boot. Also took the opportunity to fit a CD changer, just in case I want to listen to a few before I get chance to add them to my phone.
