Unhappy with ECP

Featured Replies

Got a full set of Pagid disks and pads for the VRS. Got theguy to double check the rear disk size. Told me 272mm.

The pads were wrong so had to run thru to mechanics and pick them up (20m each way), come back and change them and go thru and drop them off today. Now it turns out they also gave me the wrong disks :-(

Rear end back to as they were and will need to get bigger disks.

I am also looking for a set of rear calipers as they won't wind back. Any idea where to get them ???

Cheers

Dave

I got a pair of callipers from eBay. These were brand new not re-con for about £180 if I remember. Will look up my history and get to you. You can also buy repair kits for them too, includes new piston, seal dust covers for about £10.

I got my rear pads & disc's & calipers from euro carparts,i had no problem but my mate who works for euro carparts said that the early facelift models could have either size discs fitted, there is a code on the sticker on the boot floor that help decide which size is fitted he said. The rear calipers came painted in red as well,i also needed a front one but they dont supply one thats painted, only a standard one......this thread has reminded me ive still not painted it & its been on 8 months... :D

I plan on replacing the rear calipers and keeping the originals as spares once I have refurbished them.

It looks like 280mm rears instead of 272mm that I got. Back in to ECP tomorrow

Will check on the boot floor to see if there is a code.

Cheers guys.

Might be worth checking the condition of the backplates at the same time,i replaced mine as they had rotted around the bolt mounting points & were catching & rattling on the discs. Easy job to replace them once the disc is off.

Just replaced them a few weeks ago.

282 looks right from here.

If you find the option code 1KP on any sticker you find, that would support this.

its definately 282mm for the rears. it was reduced from original 286mm to stop a lip on the outside of the disc forming. this way the pads go right to the edge of the disc.

The rear brake code will be on the sticker on the first page of the service book along with engine code etc, I phoned my local main dealer and they told me my code as i was at euros and they told me they were not sure which ones for my car .

I did contact the dealers but they would only give a price for the parts. They wouldn't tell me the disk size.

If you're prepared to spend about £6 you can go to erWin and get the full "Car Data" corresponding to your unique car.  You have to register, and buy an hour's downloading access, then you can get car data by putting in your VIN (under "Vehicle-specific information" tab); and maintenance/repair info including wiring diagrams (current flow diagram), training items (Self Study Programmes) under the "Individual vehicle information" tab.

The stickers in your service book and on boot floor are a small subset of the full car data, which runs to about a 6 page pdf of option codes.

Here's a little snapshot of the one for our Fabia, showing front and rear brake PR codes (in the 2nd column) that can be matched to the info in the parts websites like I linked to above. Some of these codes may be on your stickers, but if you get this full set, you know you have everything.

its part no. 104442268 for 282mm rear pagid discs and 101441178 for rear pagid pads. these are correct ones as i got these ones for my mk2 2007 leon tfsi 200 and they were the correct ones will be same for mk2 octavia vrs. if you phone ecp with this part nos they will tell you the size as i did before i ordered them. if you order through carparts4less you can get them cheaper still. they are just mail order branch of ecp.

Old saying of I had a pound for every time I heard that.... ;-)

I personally look around I would recommend Jayar Car Parts they will give a good deal..

ECP are **** anyway and well known for it, sold me some incorrectly packaged parts yesterday, had it before

I only went to ecp as they have a new local branch and I wanted Pagid brakes.

ive used ecp and cp4less and never had any problems. as with everything everyone has a different experience. i did pricing at various places and for quality product vs price then ecp and cp4less came out tops. i did a bit of research into pagid stuff and seemed as good bet as oem but a fair load cheaper. its just making sure you get the right bits in the first place which can be abit of a trial at times. but a phonecall before online ordering usually clears that bit up.

Depends how much you use them!

I use Eurocarparts & have done for a couple of years, never had a issue with a wrong part & a bad quality part, they are way better than Andrew Pages  who i have used for the last 15+ years.
