What are the airports trying to stop by charging such crazy rates? £2 per minute at Stanstead after the initial time expires.

 

As I understand it from work I have done with airports such as Heathrow, they are being made to try and reduce levels of pollution created by the airports and have found that the most polluting part of an airport is the travel too and from the airport, therefore they are trying to encourage people to use public transport such as trains and buses rather than us all driving or using taxis. I believe this is all about trying to meet EU air quality targets.

So why are they charging the buses/coaches then?

 

In any event whether they should  charge or not isn't really the issue here anyway.  The fact that someone thinks they can avoid the charge when the rest of us are paying it is the same as someone going into Tesco (other shops are available) and taking a bread loaf without paying for it while you go to the cash point and pay like you should.

 

It is often the same apply the law but don't apply it to me!
