Has anyone tried these tyres?

Featured Replies

My father needs a set of new summer tyres for next year and I thought that it might be a good idea for a present.

The choice of these tyres ain't that easy. He often uses gravel roads and usually small muddy roads to our country property in springs and autumns is a challenge. So I decided that he doesn't need those usual smooth asphalt tyres but something with rough tread. Too sad but summer tyres with M+S marking is something that can't  be found here (except some offroad tyres that are way too extreme for this case). So I think about all season tyres.

I've read some reviews and I think about these 4:

Kleber Quadraxer;

Bridgestone A001;

Falken EuroAll Season AS200;

BFGoodrich G-Grip All season.

Has anyone tried any of these? How do they act on wet/dry etc. Any comments will be appreciated.

Note - these tyre are going to be for summer use ONLY.

If you know other nice tyres in the same price range then feel free to tell me (needed size: 195/65/15).

You're unlikely to find many reviews as they are a new tyre, but have a look at Nokian's Weatherproof all season tyre. I've looked at Oponeo and Pneus Online and they are similar in price (in the UK at least) to the Quadraxer & AS200 tyres (£46-£50 in 195/65/15 91H). They have a good tread for rough road grip but good wet grip ratings too. I've bought them to replace summer Dunlops & winter Nokians, and so far they are every bit as good as the Dunlops. Initially they were a little noisier, but that went after 150 miles or so. They have the M+S as well as the mountain/snowflake symbols.

I have Falken Euro AS200 on my Scout. Very impressed.

In 10,000 miles they have seemingly not worn at all. Grip good. No tyre roar. Car very comfortable.

Thanks! Nice to hear some opinions. Hope to hear more :)
Btw, additional fuel consumption and more noise is expected to be and I'm not worrying about that.

Any other opinions?

P.S. Now I'm really thinking about those Nokians DBG400 recommended :)

Nokians are the best of the bunch I think, I had Nokian winters on my previous car and they were brilliant.  I know the Bridgestones will be very noisy.

I've done a bit more on these tyres now, with a trip down to Norfolk & back. If I'm not pushing it they are definitely more economical than the Dunlops. I always thought the lighter steering feel with my Nokian winters was down to the 16" alloys, but these feel just the same on the standard 17"s. Pleased with my choice so far - winter will be the real test to see how well they compare to the WR A3s.

Not tried them, but I can definitely recommend the Vredestein Sessanta's. Got three from blackcircles, around £230 fitted

They look rather interesting but they are not available for the right size. Size matters this time because nobodys willing to change the set of 15'' alloys...

I've been very impressed with the Goodyear Vector 4 seasons on the Scout and my long gone SLK230.

Michelin have just brought out the cross climate which are supposedly better than the Goodyear. (ill wait for a tyre test to find out)

Mark,

1) these tyres cost more than ones above (like 30% more or so).

2) I own Goodyear Vector 4seasons on my car (only on summer) and somehow I don't like them. Actually they aren't bad at all but there is a problem with noise. I'd say that it gives a feeling that there is something wrong in the suspension. At first I thought it was the suspension issue but after putting on winter tyres (different rims) that problem was gone. Wheels have been balanced. By the way, it occurs on higher speeds and only when the tyres have been warmed up.

Well, it might be not a big deal but it's really annoying sometimes. I bought those tyres with my car so maybe they weren't used properly before and that's maybe the cause of all that but you never know...

Otherwise these tyres are not bad at all.

Today I bought Nokians. Hope they will be just fine.

Thanks to everyone and special THX goes to dbg400 :)

I have got Michelin Crossclimate on my scout and I am loving them.

Too late and, like I said above, Michelins are like 30% more expensive.

Let us know how you get on with them.

And after this week in the UK I can confirm they work great in the fog too :giggle:

I won't be able to test them much. Like I said above, they are as a present for my father. Maybe he will use them a bit this year but maybe only next spring.

That means no review soon. Sorry.
