Agreed.

But you have spent equal to £22,000 now to have a 4-5 year old Stage 2 vRS have you not?

So this is a good time to say, after the cars purchase price when you bought it,

'How much more have you spent on Parts / Software & Labour to get what the car is now?'

Upgrades to Suspension, Brakes, Wheels / Tyres, Intercooler, Remap & Induction to be at Stage 2.

Today you can buy a almost no miles 2014 Mk2 Fabia vRS for £11,000

& for another £1,500-£2,000 have a good handling & stopping Stage 2 car with over 220ps.

They are a real bargain without a doubt.

  • I live on the Scottish borders remember Ant! NGK7's were put in 8,000 miles ago, and are so far fine...   never had an issue with coil packs.... your car is running more power than mine though

  • day 1: didn't enjoy it at all. track kept getting stopped for things like this... (this is a vid of the saturday)   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OFB_MHfa3fQ   only did 2 laps , and hated them,

  • God I would love to be at your place against that S1 (except, in my car  )   Buying a quicker car is certainly simpler, easier but in this case more expensive as well plus if you love your car as yo

Absolutely. Upgrades on engine and suspension must have costed around 4K euros but what I meant was that for someone who owns a vRS already like Sharky and is after more power, upgrading the fields mentioned is by far a cheaper route to get to almost the same level as that Cupra. Trading in his vRS to buy a used Cupra would certainly cost him around double that money by a quick estimate...

Since you got left behind by that A1 at the start of the video I would have to agree with more power (if it was a S1 you are forgiven....hahaha). Exhaust, intercooler, intake and stage 2 map good for another 50bhp.

it WAS an S1 lol... I was quite impressed though, because the GPS speed on the vid is very slow to react, I stayed in front of the S1 to 50 mph, then he shot past, its when the vRS hits 4th gear that it really starts to feel the lack of power... I will go into all the power mods next year ..... I wonder if the new golf gti/ octy vRs engine would go in the fabia? stage one over 300 bhp ? ;)

I think its always easier to simply buy a faster car , than mod an exsisting one to reach the same point... BUT thats not the point... its MY car lol... and I'm keeping it! ;) a bit like Jason with the mongrel, he's spent tens of thousands, he's never gonna get that back, but its a cool car ;)

newbie69 / sharkrider,

Agreed, if you have a keeper just keep modifying / evolving.

If you are changing cars, maybe start with a better / as Quick or Quicker one, then start modifying (spending) again.

The rear suspension of Mk2 Fabia is what it is,

& a Seat Leon FR with 180 PS minimum (1.8TSI DSG) & Multilink Suspension is a better handling car standard before upgrading.

(a bit heavier though. but not much)

They are just an Option for a Newer Car in a Hatch 3 or 5 Door or an  Estate since Skoda have not done a Warm / Hot Mk3 Fabia. (Yet)

http://autoexpress.co.uk/seat/leon

They get the Kit and are not much more, maybe even less than a Polo GTI / Seat Ibiza Cupra 1.8 TSI or an Audi S1.

I have put mine into semi-retirement to make it last 'long time mister'  and stay as a standard example (almost)

of Skoda's most Technologically advanced engine, and underdeveloped Factory Engineered & Test driven platform -suspension,

but it gets well abused on some occasions and some loving care, but as a daily driver or more so a long distance driver it is an uncomfortable place to be.

Sharkrider & Newbie69 have my respect for the miles covered in theirs on trips,

i would need a support crew of a physio and a pharmacist.

Is this too early to start speaking of the Mk2 Skoda Fabia vRS 2nd Annual Meet some place in the UK in 2016.

@ Santa Pod or some other Venue?

I only did 4,627 miles between MOTs (03/09/14 to 15/09/15) - 800 miles of that was down to the Santa Pod trip (with a detour to Lincolnshire on the way home) - the car is garaged most of the time (I use it three, four max., times a week) and I envisage my annual mileage going forward to be comfortably sub 4,000.

They are simple creatures that do not need much attention,

feed them good fluids and some consumables, filters, pads and plugs are not expensive,

and wash / polish on occasions and keep the tyres pumped up and they are good to go.

I suppose as well as how cheap they were the Simplicity is the beauty of them.

No special tools or equipment needed that is different from any other Skoda,

or any sitting choosing from a variety of Suspension & Handling modes, Sport, Dynamic, Cupra / GTI etc.

Just go in the shower with one bottle, pull on your strides and go drive and enjoy.

Oft to have a wee blast around the 120 mile circuit of the A93 and back over Cairn O Mount.

£22's worth of enjoyment.

  • 1 month later...

Bump for a member looking at buying a vRS Estate.

Enjoyed this thread chaps. I have a 2011 Fabia vRS. Far to many people pull them down! Best car I've ever driven. Puts a smile on my face every day! Quality videos too!
