Is it worth just changing the oil ?

Featured Replies

We have a Scout , now at 99k , which has only had one fault thus far so we will keep it for the moment following a 4x4 Octavia purchased in 2000 ( yes I had to wait 6 months but it was worth it !  ) . However we now need a DSG craft and have plumped for a base 2L CR Outdoor YETI 2014 SE which we have bought from a main dealer at 16K , which was a lease car previously .

The history after 18 mths is two inspections and an EGR replacement but we know little more than that . The Maxidot says 9k miles or 1 year for an oil change service .

My plan is to use Shell only fuel with a dose of Super occasionally and to opt for an oil change now .

My question is should I just go for a pure oil change and then service when due , or an oil change service and reset with Variable or fixed servicing now ?

Our annual mileage is about 15k with most journeys 60 mile + .

It is personal preference, it depends on when last oil change / service was done.

Along with fixed / variable service preference.  I know it does not help, but if you are going to buy a service plan, then fixed is a must in order to get the benefit of the offer.

I have found that variable on my last car & this that the interval was between 15 - 18 months, so if you have a 3 yrs package , you will only get 2 services out of it.

if you want piece of mind then have oil done & reset.

I'd go for an oil change service now, for peace of mind, and reset to variable.( If you're paying for it. )

At your 15k a year you'll be coming up for a service about every 14 months.

The state VAG are in at the moment I would think the worlds your oyster ,it would be interesting to see how far you can benefit from the current situation.
