The (US) law is an ass! Paul Walker's daughter sues Porsche

Featured Replies

Meadow Walker, the 16 year old daughter of Paul Walker of "The Fast and the Furious" fame is suing Porsche because they produced a car that allowed people to behave irresponsibly as a result of which his friend Roger Rodas, may have hit a lamp post with him as a passenger while they were travelling at over 90 MPH in a 45 MPH zone.

Surely that will get thrown out. Basically a nuisance lawsuit for publicity.

Topics merged :)

Lard asses in the states have tried to sue McDonalds for being so tasty ffs lol

Who's Paul Walker ?   :notme:

She's claiming a design fault in the car, so nothing to do with the driver doing over twice the speed limit and loosing control then.

She will have to prove there is a design flaw, good luck with that.

It's a German car, so the Yanks will probably have its cards marked already :(

Hang on, James Dean was killed in a Porsche, I can see a pattern emerging here.

I think in seriousness Meadow Walker is trying to sue Porsche because she is upset, understandably, by the death of her father and is looking for someone to blame. Surely the driver has to take some responsibility?

But I do think it is a load of tosh, American tosh. And of course the Yanks aren't particularly keen on cars from Deutschland right now.

Perhaps high immissions entered the cabin and put him to sleep and he then crashed

She has enough money. Move on

Isn't she claiming that the seat belt tightened so much that it broke his pelvis and torso thereby rendering him disabled when it did hit the lamp post whilst doing 90 in a 45 catching fire and thus he couldn't get out.

Potential claim on loss of future earnings probably makes it worth her while to take a punt at this.

On dear! It's always painful to lose someone close but to blame someone else is understandable. It seems odd that part of the attraction of a Porsche is that is quick and lairy so takes some skill to control and gives a pleasing reward to those who can master it. Many 911s left the road backwards after people lost control.

In Canada, years ago, when cars were designed to be safer, the average speed of drivers crept up. It was thought that the cars design would protect them more so that they felt braver than before.

Hit a lamppost at 90mph and you're running a high risk of being dead from deceleration, never mind bouncing off various hard parts of the car or burning in the fireball from the broken fuel tank and not being able to get out of the twisted wreckage.

Good luck suing Porsche for making fast cars. Might as well sue The Fast and the Furious for glamorising a life of crime and wreckless driving.

Maybe worth reading the Case the Drivers Widow raised and lost against Porsche and and the defence Porsche put forward on the car having been Modified from Factory Standard..

"abused and altered"

'said the crash was his fault'

As she is only 16 y.o. I very much doubt that this is at her instigation.

More likely some ambulance chasing lawyer trying it on on her behalf.
