"Ever sprayed your windshield and ended up with the windshield cleaner's smell inside the cabin? The Superb automatically switches the air-con to recirculate mode when you use the windshield washers! Same for when you engage reverse (e.g. reversing into a garage to prevent exhaust gases from getting into the cabin)."

That's a new one!

My 2010 Scout does that and pretty sure ( but not 100% ) that my 2007 Octavia Elegance did it as well !

Yes I believe it does.

Confirm it does. I've not got the hang of reversing mine yet. Coming from a 1 series the size differential is big!

on my L&K the mirror only dips down if

1. you have it checked in car setup>mirrors

2. you have the mirror adjust knob turned to L(passenger mirror) - I personally find this bit annoying as i normally have it set on the heated mirror option

On my MKII it was also memorised in the key i.e. my key memorised both seat and mirror positions. Not sure what MKIII model does????

I just found the door space cubby holes for my reflective jackets. I did have them in the elastic pockets on the back of the front seats but then I happened accross something in the manual that mentions them.

The Skoda service app allows you to download the full manual to your phone, as well as a helpful warning light crib sheet plus a list of 'simply clever' tips for you car.

It also has guides for changing a wheel, checking fluids and such like. Simple things for some people but could be a lifesaver for others.

It's a handy source of information that you can keep with you at all times.

I've started using the picture viewer on the Columbus for the amusement of passengers. I had some general landscape 1080p files which I use as slideshow on my laptop. Popped them onto my SD card and play them as slideshow on the in-car display.

You can still use navigation and have music playing at the same time! Plus the display stays on whilst driving. Selected 30 second (maximum) display for slideshow time in the settings.

I read about that on the launch of the new Superb. I remember jotting this down as something I'd like to have in one of those customer questionnaires a few years and thought I was the only person that noticed this. I know it doesn't bother most people but I think this is another 'Simply Clever' feature and something I wished had before. The scent from the cleaner really irritates my sinuses and I end up just using water in the reservoir. I forget to manually switch the recirculate mode on manually sometimes so this would be very useful.

The Mk2 Superb already has such cleverness built into it. IMO the washer recirc mode is a little slow to react to the washers though, especially at higher speeds.

Never worked on either of the MkIIs I've had.  Always had to manually switch it even keeping the system on auto mode

Both my 2010 and 2013 Superbs have/do this. You can hear the rush of air in the passenger footwell when engaging reverse. Same deal when hitting the washers.

I'm fairly sure my 2007 L&K Octavia did it too.

Hmmm...must try it again so. Definitely never happened on reverse anyway.

Can anyone tell me how I get the alarm chirp working on my Mk3. Despite enabling all the right options I can’t see anything in the menu and no noise when I lock/unlock the car.

I was able to enable the alarm chirps on mine with these instructions.

Some of the instructions I previously found was missing some steps.

Pretty sure I’ve lit all these options before to no avail.

Does it show immediately on the display to enable or do I need to recycle the ignition a few times?

Mega old thread revival :D

I’ve never actually set my alarm off so I’m not sure if the alarm is siren only or whether it’s linked to the horn too, but it might be worth seeing if you can set the alarm off, which I’d guess is windows down, lock it and wait a while then try opening by reaching in and try to open the door. This should set the alarm off and hopefully hear the siren, you’ll then know if your siren is working or not.

When you lock your car do your indicators flash? As you may have another issue with faulty door sensors, if it flashes then I’d guess not.

I did see the workshop manual and it did say to replace the siren after 7 years I think it was, so maybe yours has died.

But yeah try to set the alarm off, see if it sets

Also find the siren and make sure it’s plugged in

U need to reboot the infotainment unit.....shows in the menu straightaway, and chirps.

Is reboot just a case of turning it off then back on?
