I want a fabia vrs but couldn't get a decent part-ex. When is the best time to try again? Is it every 3 months a dealer has to meet his targets or just before a new reg comes in?

I was always under the impression its better to wait until after the reg's change (March & September) as the dealer's will have more trouble hitting targets for the so-called "quiet" months...

But i could be wrong, it's happened before

Might be a while for a good part-ex value with x-mas coming up and people starting to save there money. If you didn't get a good part ex now don't try December, or January. I think maybe February might be the best time. But then I am no expert. What car is it you are trying to part-ex as you might be best selling it yourself.

I got my Octy with a couple of weeks to go before the end of June and found a dealer doing pre-registered ones for 2k off list price.

Chatting away with him he was happy to admit that they do this regularly if they need to meet sales targets.

It probably means the best time would have been a couple of weeks ago at the end of the third quarter , but coming up to christmas you might find a willing dealer as not many people have cash to spare on new cars at that time.

Yes it is very easy to find dealers doing dealers on new cars but they are very limited to those who want the hassle of a part-ex

You will get the best deal if you don't have a part exchange so try and sell privately first.

The car I'm trying to part ex is a xsara vts.02 reg,if i'd paid the full list price i'd be crying now...:(

gord - perhaps google a bit to see if there is an equivalent of briskoda for citreons, or more particularly xsaras? Good target audience to try and sell the car to...
