How to find build date?

Featured Replies

Just been discussing the VW emission scandal with one of my mates, we both have 14 plate 1.6tdi spacebacks.

His car reg is only one letter different from the original one on mine.

But using the check on skoda website it says my car isn't affected by the recall but his car is.

I know they were registered 10 days apart, but that won't reflect the build date of them.

So basically just to satisfy curiosity etc is there a way to find out the build date?

If you have an android phone, you can download the Skoda Service application. There is a menu for you to choose your car, where you can enter your VIN and it then shows some information concerning your car, including the build date.

By the way, my TDi with a build date of May 16th, 2014 is affected.

If you don't mind sending it to me in a pm (our roads will probably never cross, since I live in Greece), I can do it for you.

Ask your dealer... All is in a dealer system...

Also you can get a rough idea by looking in the engine bay, as a lot of parts have build dates on them. For example our TSI engine has a bar code sticker on it, which also gives a time and date when it was signed off as built. Other parts have week and year dates such as 10/14 (first week of March 2014) as another example, as do the tyres.
