Fabia tyre noise

Featured Replies

MY Dad has an '05 Fabia Estate. Nice car, rides well. But there is helluva lot of tyre noise. The car is running Continental Contact something or others. 185/60 x14. Does anyone have a suggestion for a quieter tyre?

I think Dunlop SP Sport 01 or maybe something from Goodyear or Michelin might suit.

Suggestions? Obviously grip/wear are important but he is 73 years old so tends to drive more slowly in the wet/not need the ultimate handling tyre (just one that won't tramline).

Thanks.

I changed from stock matador to Yokohama c-drive (185/60 14) and the difference was amazing. It is a LOT quieter now and i have plenty more grip than i used to.

I have Conti Contact Sport 2's on the Vrs and think there abit noisy, but they do grip well. Have not got anything to compare this with though as I have never changed the tyres. Any suggestions on good grip and less noise much appreciated.

I have recently put the current favourites on mine, Toyo Proxies , road noise is virtually non existant compared to previous tyres.

I swapped my dodgy el-cheapo tyres for Dunlop Sport SP200's (or was it 2000's?) and they had masses more wet and dry grip and also significantly less road noise. IIRC, they were about

Hi

The Continental Sports tend to be noisy tyres. I have had them on a Fiesta and on the Fabia and on both, they are noisier than the Bridgestones that were originally on the Ford and the Toyos that were on the used demonstrator Fabia vRS.

When my Contis wear out, I will probably go Toyo, though the Yoki C drives look interesting.

Goto www.mytyres.co.uk and browse their selection in the size you need. On each tyre info page there tends to be a link to the tyre report on Reifentest.com - I find it very useful to compare points on each tyre, as they list a points score for wear, noise, grip etc.

Thanks for that link wardy - I've just ordered some Contis again, the current fronts are getting up to 24k miles now, rears are fine, getting the fronts replaced.

Having looked at that link, I may end up ordering some different ones instead though

I think the Michelin pilot primacy's are very quiet, but they do slip a bit in the wet

I ditched my Primacys in favour of Toyo Proxies because they were so noisy. Toyos are much quieter, and are about 1/2 way through after 12K miles.

Yeah, thought it was quite handy :)

Did a search myself last night, as I think it's a good idea to change the budget ones currently on my OZ wheels, especially with current weather conditions as they are. Uniroyal Rainsport 1s came out well, at

I am 68 years old & have Fabia 1.9sdi classic estate. It had noisy tyres until I switched front ones when worn to cheapest michelin and ran them on highest recommended pressure - 2.7 bar or about 42psi. :)
