Only reason I know is I went in one as a child and had great fun being the "driver" on the right with a seat free in the middle giving loads of space-unusual for me used to sharing a tiny space in a Fiat 126 or Mini as a family of 6....

I can only think of three production cars off the top of my head that had three separate seats at the front (not bench seats like Ford Zodiacs, Vauxhall Crestas, American cars etc...). They are:

Matra Simca Bagheera/Murena

Fiat Multipla

Maclaren P1 (ish - staggered)

Were/are there others? There probably were.....

The Ferrari 365 P Berlinetta Speciale   probably doesn't qualify among production cars. But Honda FR-V 2004 does.

OK, here's a part of my family story: When my dad's Chevrolet 1954 was beyond further repair, he chose between a Studebaker (his final choice, which I inherited when he passed away in 1974) and this:

Don't know if dad did right in choosing the Studebaker. One thing's for sure, though: Having owned (and driven) a Stude is considerably more cool than having owned a Ford... even if it only was the 6 cyl. "compact" Lark model

To be fair the DB7 was a pimped Jag to start with - (the XJ41 F-Type project that was too expensive to sell at Jag prices)
