Well done. Just remember you have passed your test, you haven't learned to ride a motor bike! I passed in 1970 and can honestly say I am still learning.

Giving away your age here mate! :D.

But never a truer word spoken tbf.

You are only as old as you feel!  Some days I feel bleeding ancient!!!!

Anyway preserve us from cheeky young plumbers. :D

Wise words.

I always felt that the lessons are based on obtaining a level just to pass your test.

After gaining some experience I intend to take some advanced training. I had driven for 32yrs and took my Advanced Driving test last year !!

Well passed my mod 2 today with one minor,

Time to take the L plates off the little 125

Nice one! What was the one minor for?

Said i was going abit quick in one of 30 limits, 31-32ish but obviously neither speedo's are calibrated so not 100% accurate,

Wasn't sure if i had pushed it at a set traffic lights at some roadworks but assesor agreed that i was too close to stop safely, he followed me through so i carn't of been that close

Sounds good. Should be happy with that mate (:

When i did my test.. Hmm about 4 years ago. I got a minor when i pulled up at the side of the road about 12 inches away.

He politely nudged me with a 'would you normally stop that far away from the curb?'

'Hmm. Uh. No?'

'Okay. Pull off when youre ready and ill ask you to pull up again shortly'

So i pulled up about 6 inches off instead :D

Ah thats even more annoying than my 'being slightly too far right exiting a roundabout' and getting a minor, still, a pass is a pass! I got a telling off on my bus test for stopping at lights when I should have carried on, I tent to just go for it if I think enough to consider hesitating.

When i did my trailer test other year i failed first time for hesitating to much, seems ive gone other way this time,

But as you say a pass is a pass

Its difficult though isnt it. I got marked for hesitation on car test.

But, if you pull out on someone its an instant fail.

Yeah I failed my previous bus test for that lol.

Bet its even worse in a bus though.

4 times the length and slow as feck haha.

:D That was exactly it, I was pulling out onto a road that had a slight bend, could only see so far, as I dropped the clutch the lorry came round the bend and that was that, by the time I'd gone through 6 manual gears in a 20 year old coach I had no chance hahaha. At least in a car/on a bike you can boot it if you make a error of judgement.

Hahaaa. Yeah. I feel for you in that respect. I couldnt do it tbh.

I got pulled out on last weekend by a bus. Going round a bend and i just saw him pulling ou from the right as i saw him. I Braked like **** ofc. He apologised n what not n i wasnt annoyed.

He either kept going, or stopped across the road and potentially had a bike coming the other way which would of crashed into him.

So i didnt mind.

Lots of back smoke from his bus. But i could of overtaken him walking haha

Sometimes thats all we can do, apologise and hope for the best. A bit different but it's really frustrating on roundabouts, go to pull out (finally get a gap) and someone comes sweeping round without indicating, the standard reaction is to stop, but then I get left half in the road and the cars come round after all have to avoid me and give me abuse, I just pull out now if someone cant be bothered to indicate they can wait for me to go.

You cant say fairer than that really mate. I mean, its not like you can do much about it.

We all make fluff ups. Difference is, even a 1.2 car will shift at a roundabout and on A bike you cant open up, because you have to get around the corner haha.

People should understand more though.

The company I was with was fully auto buses even the training coach. They were still snail like pulling away and the new ones are as bad if not worse because they are governed down so much. If you have any chance of keeping on time you have to have a thick skin for the abuse you get from others when you chop them up.

Haa.

I guess on the other hand, if you made a bus do do the 0-56 (limited to that i guess?) dash in under 10 seconds, youd end im with alot of OAPS on the floor haha.

We had one once that took a good three miles to get up to 50 whereas the others would have done it in less than half that time.  I kept faulting it but they kept putting it out on the run.  In the end I rang VOSA and asked them about it and they told me it shouldn't be used.  Strangely enough after that it was moved to another depot.  Apparently when they fitted a second hand gearbox it was the wrong sort as the ratios were all wrong.

We had a bus of the same model and year lying scrap in the yard because the chassis was knackered and I suggested they change gearboxes with that but apparently the scrap yard would only accept them if they were in working order.  So we could not take the gearbox out of that one but we could sell it to the scrap man for a few hundred quid and then go and buy the gearbox off him for about the same money!  You could not make it up.

Wtf. Sounds like a right mix up haha.

Were the ratios too high then? So then didnt have enough power to accelerate at a reasonable pace?

More than likely plus no doubt it would be bo11oxed as well!

Given the speed of a bus when its working properly.

That one just sounds properly dangerous hahaa.

On another note. Soo much water on the roads right now. Might sell the vfr n get a canoe
