Maps download, Skoda site useless?

Featured Replies

Hi guys, newbie here...

I've been on the Skoda update portal and there os map updates (I think) for my columns system but I cannot find a download link?

Can anyone help? I'm a cab driver in Milton Keynes and the way the place builds up I need to keep as updated as possible.

Thanks in advance.

You need to buy the cds or go to main dealer for an update or get a tomtom/garmin, I only use google maps on my android, does the job :)

There are no downloadable updates for Mk II Superb. Only from Mk III onwards.

The maps usually come on a DVD from the dealer. The problem is most dealers will not keep the most up to date DVD on hand (Or in my case after looking up the VIN claim that the most up to date maps DVD compatible with my car is about 3 verisons behind the current one). Once the Columbus copies the DVD to its hard disk you won't need it again unless something goes wrong with the head unit, so if you can find someone nearby with the DVD and borrow it for a few hours then you're sorted for nothing. Google maps will tend to be a lot more up to date than the Columbus DVDs though. The real time traffic updates on google maps are extremely useful in Ireland too as traffic warnings are an expensive paid subscription service that only has data for Dublin city anyway.

Hi,

I got tired of all the expensive and still old maps being sold by VW group, instead I bought a very good Asus Zenfone 2 Android phone with 5.5" screen, installed the HERE gps app that you can run totally offline, if you like, after map download, then you are free to go. And free map updates whenever you like ...

Better than spending £220 per year or so for old maps ...

Just my 5 pence ...
