Karl's Midweek Detail - Definitive Wax Review

Managed to get a coat of Definitive Wax CORA on the .:R36 late on Sunday afternoon.

I was losing daylight - after chatting too long with Alan, then my neighbour as well! Doh!

So the pics are not the best.... but I was very happy with the finish

This tub of CORA has now done about 10 cars - but it hardly feels like I've used much from the tub.

Estimate about 90% full... [emoji106]

Left a lovely finish! Without doubt one of the best wax releases this year IMHO.

The R36 looked cracking last night, even in the dark! Sounds well too!

  • In the last 2 weeks I've put 2 coats of show edition on the vRS. Just given the car a quick maintenance wash and couldn't resist getting this photo. Just a wash and dry at this stage. Show edition h

Thanks mate - i appreciate the comments on the .:R36.

Without a doubt, CORA is one of the best releases of 2015 IMO.

The new Milltek tips and custom back boxes on the .:R36 really do help the sound - worth every penny!

I heard yours when I last saw you in it Alan, both sound brilliant! No idea why they dumb the sound down on a car like that from factory.

My vRS sounded flat until I did the middle box delete mod. Sounds awesome now!

Spot on guys - the .:R36 now looks, sounds and goes very well.

Nice to have a guy like Andy and Zorstec so local really - they did a great job.

I've already sent another couple of guys from work down to see him about upgrades!

I still need to nip down to look at some tailpipes for the car. Haven't had chance of late but will get round to it!

So, I now have DW Show Edition to try before buy! After using Pro Edition on the front end of the Fab I can't wait to put show to use! Hopefully get abit of time tomorrow and will post my pictures & thoughts!

Thanks for Ste for lending me the pot! Already had a smell & again, with most of the DW range, smells great!

As I said in person Karl - very interested in your thoughts on how DW Show Edition performs.

I mean - your Fabia vRS paint is immaculate and the gloss levels and finish are already exceptional TBH!

See how it goes - thin-thin layers, the handi-puck should help and 1-panel at a time with 10 min cure absolute MAX!

Although will depend a bit on the cooler winter temps and humidity levels on the day of course.

Thanks mate. Really appreciate comments like that. Put alot of time and effort into the car to get it how i want it!

The Handi Puk has been a god send as far as waxing Is concerned. Hard to over apply a wax with one I think.

I never really leave a wax longer than 10-15 minutes & of course I have the garage out sun light (providing we have any haha)

Looking forward to using it & seeing if it adds any more gloss/depth. If so it'll be my next big wax purchase!

Saturday mornings job was to give the car a quick wash as she was looking grubby. 5 hours later, a coat of show edition, fk1000p in the door shuts, exhausts & feed the bead wax for wheels. Engine bay wiped round and dressed with Auto Finesse Dressal. All inside cleaned & dressed...

Definitive Wax Show Edition - lovely wax to work with in the temperature I had. 1 panel at a time & left to cure for around 7-10 minutes as per instructions and Ste (Samuir1974) - left to haze but do not let it dry!

Buffed off with ease and seen as this is a dedicated show wax left a beautiful gloss finish! Won't mention durability as I'm not bothered about that with this wax.

Enjoy the photos & certainly one for next year's shows!

The vRS is certainly looking really well - the wet look achieved is exceptional!

Glad you enjoyed using Show Edition and found application ok; it can be tricky in Summer on warm panels.

Given the very high standard of your paint - I expected it would be easy to apply and give superb results...

Good to have you back online with the new phone too.... Cheers!

Found it really easy to apply but as said, temperature was on my side too! I honestly didn't think it would do much, especially from the results I've had from previous 'Show Waxes' - that said, a certain difference in gloss and depth levels.

Nice to have a phone back in my pocket rather than the fossil I had before haha!

Again, appreciate that mate. Always nice for people to appreciate the car for what it is!

I spent 8 long months looking for the right MK2 vRS & funnily enough I didn't want a green one to start with LOL!
