Skoda Rapid wheels on Superb

Featured Replies

Hello!

I bought my Superb about 2 months ago, and now it's time for the winter wheels to come on as I live in Norway.

Unfortunately the winter wheels that came with the car have some really ugly rims with blemishes all over.

Also after fitting them I'm experiencing a huge increase in road noise with some additional strange sounds like there are bumps on the tyre or something.

Anyway, I found a really good deal on some nice Skoda wheels complete with winter tyres and everything, and was just wondering if they'll "work" on the Superb?

I found out that the alloys are called "Skoda Prestige", and the dimensions I can find online says the tyre dimensions are 215/40/17. Ride comfort isn't a concern, as no matter what I put on the Superb, it's still more comfortable than my previous car (Golf with sports suspension and 18'' low profile tyres).

Will these wheels handle the weight of the car and so on? I'm not that knowledgeable when it comes to wheels/tyres, so any help would be great!

Thanks in advance! :)

I think the PCD on a Rapid is 5 X 100 and the Superb is 5 X112 so they won't fit.

Disclaimer :--  I think

Aren't the Rapid wheels a different stud pattern to the Superb? 5x100 as opposed to 5x112?

Pah, beaten to it.

Got to by quick to beat Goldfinger       Sorry, Mr Goldfinger

No idea about the wheel fitment, but I think your complaints about road noise are almost certainly due to the change in tyres rather than to the wheels.

Aaah! That's a bummer that they won't fint, but still awesome that you guys told me now so I didn't have to drive for 6 hours and waste my money! :)

Yeah, I'm betting the issue is just some really old and hard tyres, but in this case the complete set of Rapid wheels were much cheaper than simply buying the tyres I needed!

I'll just keep looking and see if something pops up! This road noise is killing me though... It's actually worse than my Golf, and I'm driving on 16s...

One thing to watch with the Superb is that the load rating for the tyres must be at least 92, which means buying 94 in a lot of cases as only the low profile tyres come in 92 load rating. The Yeti is the other Skoda model with a load rating higher than 91, so buying second hand tyres from another Skoda car gives a pretty good chance the tyres won't have the correct load rating for a Superb anyway.
