Air bag warning light on

Featured Replies

Hi

Can anyone help me, fitted a gps aerial, removed Amundsen+ unit, disconnected passenger air bag "off" warning lamp.

Checked sat nav with this disconnected and ignition on.

Now have air bag warning light on.

Can this be reset ?

Warning do not take your car through a car wash !!!!!

So far cost me a new aerial, lots of time and possibly a computer hook up to clear fault.

Thanks in advance

Welcome

yes it can be cleared easily by someone with VCDS ( list /map of owners is in my signature)

Sorry to hear of your woes but sadly, yes, NEVER put your car through a traditional car wash.

Jet (or hand) wash and hand finish. It's not just the paint that gets trashed but as you have unfortunately found out, bits get ripped off too.

Regarding the airbag light, it sounds like you need it reset with the VAG cable/tool thing (VCDS).

Search on here and you might find a Briskoda member who could help you out hooefully. Good luck with it.

How did you get on Rolls, My airbag light has just come on and the only thing ive done is changed the fuse in the interior lights!

Beware the £3 Bulgarian hand wash, they often use the cheapest TFR - acid based.....not good

I reset the airbag error with an app called Carista and a obd2 adapter.

I have a 2010 Skoda superb with airbag fault ,the cars now done 318,000 miles , fault was passenger crash sensor, remedy was passenger door panel removed wires looked ok, I then disconected the plug from the pillar and found the that the wires for the sensor had came apart with part of the wires still in the plug, I extended and soldered the wires together with small pices of wire I found in the garage. Put it all back together reconnected battery plugged in my vag copy and cleared the airbag , problem solved.

Simple code clear with vcds will fix it.

Don't worry

For future reference, if you disconnect any part of the airbag system and then power it up (by turning on the ignition) it will trigger a fault that can only be cleared by diagnostics.

Just had mine done dealer charged £33 because bolero out for repair we thought it came on because key was in ignition when refitting unit back but not sure

Agreed on "nothing but the jet or hand wash".

One of the things that I liked about my local Skoda dealer is that when I went to collect my car post service last week, it hadn't been washed. The service manager offered to wash it but said "We noticed it hasn't had brushes used on it and we are using a local brush wash at the moment. We though you wouldn't like it".  I liked that that they guessed I wouldn't like that!

I also liked the fact that they agreed that all filters would be changed and they would ignore the "only if required" clause . I checked everything and they were as good as their word. I have no hesitation is dumping on dealers when they deserve it - in this case, I'll be using them again.

Their coffee really sucked though and the milk was iffy. You cant have everything.  ;)
